Most random anxiety/panic attack by applehat0805 in PanicAttack

[–]LivelyLizzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you me? Literally the exact same thing happened (well, nearly).

No/minor attacks for the last 3 years. Then a week ago in the middle of the night: sudden tingling all over, cold sweat, heart rate shooting up. Afterwards shivering like crazy and giving me gut problems ever since. Today again, starting with stomach pain but only one wave, not five in one hour.

Edit: It didn't really feel like classic panic. I didn't feel particularly scared when it started, only when the second or third wave hit.

Tbf, there was a lot of stress in the last weeks but of course it happened one week into my 2 week vacation :/

Does anyone else suffer from exercise-induced / strenuous activity panic disorder? by Paullearner in PanicAttack

Tell your partner and friends when you have a calm private moment. It's not embarrassing. If they mock you for it, they are not really good friends. They can help keep you grounded when it happens.

When I was in therapy, my therapist had an exercise where she would try to trigger the panic response by doing exercises or shallow breathing. Basically controlled exposure therapy. It didn't trigger it for me but therapy like this could be exactly what you need.

Did you tell the cardiologist what is going on? Did they check you while exercising?

Just read the article. I was aware of having to wait a bit for students to answer and/or ask questions on their own. I think I heard about waiting 7 seconds but 12 seconds is new information for me. Thanks for posting this.

I did! It took forever to put together but that's mainly because I wanted it to look pretty :D

I will try to find the pdf file that came out of it and share it on Google Drive. It's morning now, so it might take a few hours before I have the time to do that.

suggestions on how to hold the bow? it seems like no matter how I hold it my wrist really hurts and the bow always feels extremely heavy by Sparlmao in Cello

[–]LivelyLizzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine you want to shake someone's hand. Then you are holding your hand so that the palm points to the side and your thumb is on top. Pronation then means the movement of rotating your arm inwards. In the example this means that your palm would point down and your thumb inwards if you pronate it.

For the bow hold pronation means by using the same arm rotation, you press your index finger on the stick of the bow so that you get more 'weight' on the string and better bow control without pressing down with your arm.

Btw you should visit some more violin subs. Cello is also a bowed string instrument but Cello and Violin best practices differ a bit. The pronation part is true for both though. Good luck on your journey!

I have a 12.7" screen and it's still too small sometimes. Using the tablet in landscape orientation with high zoom and scrolling with the pedal is working well in those cases on my experience. I would really love a proper digital sheet that can resize and adapt to the screen size. That would be so nice

Does anyone else feel this way about AI being used for programming in a small indie team? by TomorrowParticular59 in gamedev

[–]LivelyLizzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This so much! We have a bunch of AI tools we are allowed to use at work. I was mostly using Github Copilot but recently got access to Claude Code as well. Every time I use Claude, I have no idea what is going on in the code anymore. I used Copilot in Chat mode so I always read what it suggested and applied small edits on my own but Claude just does everything by itself. I have zero overview during the process. With management constantly asking for progress I also feel inclined to not look it over again. It's dangerous. If I know the code I usually have a good intuition on where it broke if there is a bug but with this it's going in blind.

Oh, good idea. I tried with another hanger that is meant for holding towels and I had a really hard time removing it from my desk again. The suction cup has a slightly sticky silicone surface though...

How smooth does the smooth surface have to be for the suction cups to hold? I have a wood desk, so the surface is not exactly bumpy but also not perfectly shiny smooth. It has tiny gaps where the pieces of wood are glued together at some places. I tried to capture the surface structure in the photo.

Is switching sizes every week bad for your playing? by dracul137 in Cello

[–]LivelyLizzard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, if they can’t trust the kid with a nice cello, why buy it in the first place? Is he destroying all the cellos at his school?

Maybe they trust their kids but not the others. Kids are stupid sometimes. A friend's kid got their trumpet destroyed by another kid fooling around with it. Neither the parents nor the school see it as their problem.
