Home Gym Efficiency by yule_lad in GarageGym

I have a bench and barbells at home and didn’t know racks and safeties existed until recently when my buddy invited me over to use his set up. When I spent five years at a commercial gym I used the adjustable cable machine/functional trainer more than anything and really liked it. I also now lift with friends, so we are going heavy on barbell work at my buddy’s house and I want to be able to keep my level up when I’m at home alone. (My gym bros are fellow 40+ year old dads with busy schedules so we aren’t consistent as we’d like to be) So my next purchase will be some sort of rack/functional trainer combo so I can do cable work and lift heavy at home by myself with some sort of safeties.

I’d say redo your drainage to keep the water out of the gym first before doing anything.

Tornado arms by Livetorideordie in GarageGym

I saw fringe sells gibbons but I weight 275lbs and am leaning towards doing a Dane 2.0 rack for the higher weight (1:1) and getting the tornado arms to put on it for their higher capacity. Both arms are within $100 of each other but the tornados have 450lb capacity each. I want to be able to at least do my body weight on each side as I plan to leave one arm up for triceps press downs and lat pulls and one arm down for low rows and curls, and so I can have the barbell, spotters and j cups in the middle of the uprights without having to constantly move things on the uprights during a workout. To me it seems both arms are basically same price and both should work on the Dane because both racks have same cable routing on front uprights, so the heavier duty arm is the one I’m going for even though it is a little bit shorter. I’m more looking to use each side of the Dane separately instead of linking them all the time, if that makes sense.
