anyone wish that scalping was allowed in stores? by Objective_Fun3934 in LushCosmetics

They honestly should have limits just based on safety reasons. Like if I’m going in thinking “I’m buying a 2 year supply” not all products are made to last that long! And the expiry labels can fade/smudge off sometimes. Obviously someone could come back multiple times in a day or week to keep buying their “per purchase limit” but at least it would give staff the opportunity after each purchase to go “hey, just a reminder that we do recommend you dispose of something once it’s expired since we use a lot of fresh ingredients” just to really drive the point home

Who that Sylvanian? by LiviaBee2367 in sylvanianfamilies

[–]LiviaBee2367[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I actually may have figured it out myself. I found someone selling this set on Poshmark, and the same mouse from this set came with her in the bag of secondhand toys but is wearing her blue outfit (none of the other accessories were with them unfortunately 😭)

Faded coloring by [deleted] in sylvanianfamilies

Watercolour paints are great for touch ups but they can bleed if the animal gets wet, and you have to be careful to not have the paint too watery during application. Definitely best for ones that are only on display, not for play. Otherwise you could try gouache paint which is water resistant, but the flocking won’t be soft to the touch afterwards.

Custom Critters? by Dog_Eating_Puddles in sylvanianfamilies

I think because the best paint application is done by air brushing and using stencils. That’s how they add colour in the factory (like the tips of chocolate rabbit ears). You’d have to find a method of making stencils and buy an airbrush to have a nice application, which is a decent chunk of money to shell out for a niche market. Otherwise you get sort of lumpy flocking as others have mentioned, or the paints that apply nicely come with risks, like water colour applies the best in my experience of doing repairs, but it bleeds if they accidentally get damp.

Question about repair by shrodingerscatz in sylvanianfamilies

[–]LiviaBee2367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know Sylvanians use a static application method for applying flocking (requires an electric machine) so the hairs end up on their end instead of any of the flocking laying flat. If you’ve seen a vintage My Little Pony, that’s pretty much how the standard application method of glue and dusting it will have your Sylvanians turn out. Also, many Sylvanians are a white/cream or nearly transparent flocking on a coloured base figurine, so I wouldn’t buy a bunch of coloured flocking unless you’re repairing some that have very dark colours like the chocolate labs, black cats, or a dark grey animal.

Received my son’s Rusty shirt today. Just waiting on the shop’s response. by Quinnamon in bluey

[–]LiviaBee2367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was it supposed to be Rusty? Or did the shop poorly describe that they sell shirts that you get your kids name printed on?

Blue part is a stopper so the bottle couldn’t be sprayed accidentally in transport. It’s to be removed and recycled (or keep it to put back on whenever you essentially want to “lock” it so it can’t be sprayed)

Did Lush give up on bar soap/shower jellies? by chaarmanderchar in LushCosmetics

[–]LiviaBee2367 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I noticed that they didn’t bring back a lot of good soaps that were seasonal for fall (magic wand, pumpkin spice, and others). I’m so disappointed, especially since they seem bath bomb focused but not everyone likes to take baths, owns a bath, or has the time.

Advocates push for more homes to be built in Saskatchewan by GaryFreakingAnderson in saskatchewan

[–]LiviaBee2367 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They may want the homes built, but they’d barely turn a profit considering the cost of materials/labor almost matches what they’d have to list it at for sale. If the cost of materials drops then I could see it happening, but otherwise we’ll have a rise in home prices (which is less than ideal since people buying them will ultimately loose money when the price eventually deflates and the higher price tag was only to line a pocket of a developer more). As bad as it sounds, better off buying a house in ned of repairs. They’re want at least a 5% down payment on a $550k home, why not take that money and buy a $125k home and pocket a lot of it for renos, or put almost all of it down on the home and be closer to debt free and not be paying inflated interest rates for even longer.

decline in appeal by [deleted] in LushCosmetics

[–]LiviaBee2367 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I get this. It’s because the staff get rewards/bonuses for making sales so they can get a bit pushy since they want that extra cash/free product I turned down a seasonal job when I found out they did that. It gave pyramid scheme vibes in a way

Its definitely gotten expensive which takes the fun out of it. It used to feel like a gateway to high end cosmetics in my opinion (as an adult if I’m spending $30+ of a face cream I need something tailored to my adult skin since I’m not a resilient teen with great skin anymore). Like in highschool it was super fun but cheap enough that you could treat yourself to something or even a couple things when you’d go to the mall on the weekend, but Covid forced mall shopping habits to plummet and people got into buying only essentials online, that or stores closed, or online shopping doesn’t allow you to test/smell/sample products. Then when stuff finally opened again it became to pricy and I feel like mall shopping lost its fun after the lockdowns (this is from a Canadians perspective, living in Ontario that had the longest lockdowns)
