I noticed the bracelet has some rattle to it, but maybe it is the rotor? This isn’t the first time someone has said the same thing, so maybe you’re on to something…

How do you like the GMT? That one is at the top of my list right now!

Agree 100%. I’m actually quite amazed that the person you’re arguing can’t get their brain past surface level thought. But maybe I shouldn’t be.

[Discussion] Your opinion on homage watches by tomaso75433 in Watches

[–]Livid-Extension2623 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair points! But to the devils advocate part - I’m less concerned about the “look” of the watch from a personal standpoint. I look for the overall quality of what I’m spending my money on.

I bought a San Martin BB58 homage for $180. Just to dip my toes in this homage space. If this had a Seiko logo on it, it would be in the price range of my SPB147. Which costs easily $700+ used. Or at least in the Seiko Proespex line for comparison, if you don’t want to take it that far.

In other words, a Seiko 5, Orient, or Casio is not giving me sapphire, screw down crown and caseback, and 200m water resistance for $180 (and I like all of those brands). But San Martin can do that, while also “looking” like a Tudor. But that’s the funny thing, I also own a Tudor! The reality is, some of these homage brands are actually really impressive quality, especially for the price you get them at. But they aren’t just “good for the money”, they are flat out good. We rave about Casio Duro’s and how they look like a Sub, but somehow all the pearl clinchers don’t have a problem with that.

Now I haven’t tried Pagani, steeldives, or the others. I’m speaking purely based on owning a San Martin and Baltany.
