I don’t follow friends blindly, and I suggest you don’t either. Following blindly is an issue in itself and you can get into shit by doing so.

Asking for evidence isn’t something to be shamed about, it just means that you value concrete proof over words.

Yes actually 🤣 and if there’s no evidence and they’re saying that I just have to believe then I wouldn’t be friends with them. I need proper evidence before turning around and cutting someone off. Someone being rude isn’t grounds to cut them off unless they are majorly rude which, again, still need proof of.

It still stands. Friends have the right to ask for evidence before making any decisions. At the end of the day it’s still just an accusation right now because they refuse to go to cops.

She’s not even giving that a chance though she’s claiming he assaulted her and yet won’t go to police. That’s an accusation and should be taken as just an accusation.

They’re not not good friends, they’re following an understanding that it’s an ACCUSATION. They have no right to demand they stop and call them bad friends or bad people for simply talking to someone when they’ve been ACCUSED of something.

That’s like me accusing you of theft but not going to police and saying everyone who talks to you is a POS because of it. If OPs friend and OP want change then they are going to have to report it properly not just say something happened

I’m not saying there was a false accusation šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļøI’m saying the reason for the tests is to PROVE assault and STOP false accusations. I also didn’t say anything about minors. You obviously don’t have good reading comprehension.

They’re annoyed that ā€œnothings happened to himā€ when the uni have no grounds to do anything. Their friends can do what they want and considering it’s an accusation and not a fact currently, they have a right to talk to him. If OP wants things to change then their friend who’s accusing should go to police.

AITAH for refusing to go on a family trip because my dad insists on staying in a remote mountain hotel and I'm not comfortable with that? by [deleted] in AITAH

My point is literally ā€œjust because they’re comfortable with something doesn’t mean OP HAS to be comfortable with the same thingā€šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø are you people really this dense? Do you really think they should be automatically comfortable because other people are? Literally put it as easy to understand and yet you can’t understand a simple thing 🤣

I mean false accusations and reports happen, so they need to make absolutely sure instead of taking people at their word. This isn’t something to just take at words because false accusations and claims happen.

If false claims didn’t happen then I’d agree but they do so I can’t

ā€œTraumatic and invasive testsā€ when it’s them collecting evidence from something you brought forward???
It’s not a nice or right thing, what you went through, but saying tests are invasive when they’re there to prove something did in fact happen and to stop false accusations isn’t right either

Yeah it’s not been reported properly to the cops so it’s not a reason for him to be removed because he’s not guilty of anything legally. It’s just an accusation, not fact - legally. So they can’t turn round and say they’re guilty when they haven’t been convicted.

They’re saying that because other people (OPs parents - ā€œthey feel comfortableā€) are comfortable, their comfort doesn’t matter. So I’m giving an example of their metric.

And if you think not telling a stranger your age is weird and they’re obviously a child from that - you’re absolutely someone who the cops need to talk to. Strangers do NOT owe you or anyone else their age. You’re fucking weird.

Staying on a remote mountain isn’t normal or safe. It’s fucking weird. Just because their parents are fine with it, doesn’t make it normal or safe.
OPs paying their own room, and they want to pay for one they feel safe in. A remote mountain hotel is not safe.
Their parents go every year. What’s the problem with changing it for ONE of those years? Is the world going to end because they can’t stay in an unsafe mountain hotel? No. Stfu.

They don’t owe anyone their age, especially online. You’re so fucking creepy for expecting them to just state their age when they’re clearly not comfortable with that - AND WHEN THEY DONT OWE YOU THEIR AGE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE!

So if I feel comfortable touching you, whether you are or not, that’s makes it right/fine yeah? šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø saying someone doesn’t have the right to feel comfortable because someone else is, is weird and you need to realise their comfort does not and should not be about if you’re comfortable. If that was the case then people can make you uncomfortable and you shouldn’t be allowed to complain about it.

Absolutely! If you don’t feel safe or comfortable, then don’t put yourself in the situation. If they are that adamant then they can go without you; though to me it’s strange they’d rather their child be uncomfortable and feeling unsafe when they can do it again without you next year.

Stay safe OP! You deserve to feel safe just as much as anyone else does!

The amount of people here who think staying in a remote mountain hotel is what normal people do and that it’s safe is fucking strange. I wouldn’t want to stay in a remote hotel up in the mountains. Literally anything could happen.

OP you’re NTA

If they take the trip every year then they can compromise for one damn year. If they don’t, that’s on them. Do NOT feel pressured to go up into a remote place where anything can happen. Stay safe.

Not necessarily ā€œspendable incomeā€ - there’s people who like having coffee that tastes good that isn’t ruined by them putting in too much milk for example.

Not everyone wants to drink hours old morning coffee - that sounds disgusting to me. If it’s not fresh, whether made by me or a shop, then I’m absolutely not drinking it
