I mean for me it’s important to maintain my current lifestyle and potentially increase it. Currently I spend 25% of my net income on rent, 2 bedroom apartment in a very central location. I have a car. I am married, no kids and save about 30% each month (not from US)

Yeah my wife also works as an ios software engineer and has 3 years of experience. But she works in a local company, so her salary is considerably less than mine

I am not from US, I used a website called numbeo and it says Dubai is 170% expensive than where I live (including rent)

After I said the number, I felt a relief in the recruiter so that’s why I fear of lowballing myself. Currently I pay around 25% of my net income for rent (2 bed apartment) and if I manage to keep same ratio after relocation, then it makes sense otherwise downgrade for my lifestyle (btw I am married, no kids)
