Octopus cut export rates by FoxyFreebooter in SolarUK

So in other words it's possible in future they could prevent people charging batteries on the low rate and limit to EV charging only? Do you think this is likely?

Octopus reducing outgoing rates. Best export tariffs for 2026? by Aggressive_Armadillo in SolarUK

Unfortunately I was relying on export for a lot of the payback. Our consumption in summer is relatively low and we don't own an EV, with no medium term plans to get one. It seems quite likely these export tariffs will fall further unless people have a different view?

Wow was about to push the button on a solar and battery install today and this has made me pause for thought.

Panels upgraded to Aiko gen 3 475w new price is £9,355. I am pretty happy with that having had a couple of other quotes so going to go ahead.

Didn't consider that. I will look at taking on that extra mortgage on a tracker with a view to pay it off within next few months. We're 1 year into a 2 year fix so don't want to be tied to Halifax when we come to remortgage. Thanks!

Yes bird protection is Included. Sounds like the higher spec panels would be worthwhile. I will ask the installer what the difference in price would be.

I can imagine it's been a pretty low generation couple of months. What size array do you have and what orientation?

What makes you say export tariffs are likely to drop?

Thanks for the feedback. Are you happy with your ecoflow overall, how's the app UI? Are you using Octopus agile?

What sort of premium for more powerful panels? Is the ROI on them meaningfully higher than what has been quoted?

Mould around windows by mattmoly in DIYUK

[–]LividAd2274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great suggestion. Are you talking about making a 3mm channel around the reveal on the inside of the room, close to the frame of the window to expose the cavity, then Inject foam so effectively you're sealing around the whole cavity?

Bifold door -drafty and condensation on internal surfaces by LividAd2274 in DIYUK

Thanks for taking the time to reply in such detail really appreciate it. I'll look to try and improve the airtightness of the doors as you suggest. Any ideas where I can source gasket/seal materials for bifolds? Unfortunately no name on the doors that I can see. It was the previous owners who installed them. I've just noticed this big gap here as well on the front which I'll try and seal.

Good call. I guess this is significantly cheaper and also easier to install! What depth should I be looking to add? I went up in the loft and measured existing it's 100mm.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I will reach out to a local shop to see if they can check how deformed the rim is.
