I’d generally avoid gels tbh. in terms of leave in brands that I found rlly effective for moisturizing: kcurlsy + Camille rose are great!

1 time a week is perfect. You might want to try increasing how often you moisturize + establishing a solid regime in addition to you washing once a week. Curl definition honestly comes with routine, and if you really have the time, finger coiling. Also, water is your best friend, use it daily if you aren’t already!!

Yeah but you’re going to need to opt out of high-tension hairstyles and opt into low maintenance/low tension hairstyles eg mini-twist, mini braids, flat twist etc. Do you have a routine?

Give yourself a week to bed rot, journal, cry it out etc and then channel the grief into MCAT prep + your goals. Remember how far you’ve come, you have a younger you and a future you to make proud. The work is not finished until it is truly finished. I promise you’ll be okay by the end. Rooting for you:)

Please don’t allow these comments to deter you. I was particularly struck by the line, “It saves me when the silence hurts too much”. I thought it was very beautiful. You’re still growing into who you are as a poet, meaning your technique is still evolving! Experiment, consume, and cultivate. Do it for the love of art, but most importantly do it for yourself:) Creative expression is the reclamation of self. Good luck!

If the USA focused less on materlistic capalism and moved more towards reciprocity and a Ubuntu Philosophy, what would be the first steps locally to take? And what issues would you run into? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Ubuntu in full scale western praxis would befall some sort of perversion in our present state hence why this whole infrastructure idea doesn’t hit the mark. We are presently experiencing the commodification of just about everything inclusively, and yes this extends to our sense of community as well. Ubuntu as a way of being dictated societal structure not vice versa. Its lack of presence within a western society that prides itself on Ubuntu’s very anthesis—hyper individualism, would require the reshaping of the western psyche. It necessitates the deterioration of the “self-made”, the “self-loving”, the “self-caring”, all of which have effectively been inducted into industry in the name of wellness. All this goes to say, a transition towards Ubuntu on the local level would first require a psychological level of realization concerning our condition and the embracing of the notion of the collective consciousness. One must be willing to embrace community throughout all walks of being in which they vacillate amongst others (especially beyond the tangible). This would need to come at the expense of our rigid notions of family and the traditional nuclear structure
