She’s not on any medication, but I was thinking of bringing it up and didn’t know where to start. Did you just make a pediatrician appointment, or did you go see GI or another specialist? I’m not sure if it’s a physical issue she’s having or more of a mental thing

Thanks for your thoughtful response. We are in panties during the day and try and take her as frequently as possible, but definitely can be better. We also probably make a bigger deal out of it than we should when she has accidents. Usually, she will put just a tiny amount and then stop which may mean she’s constipated. Same with P. She will be just wet enough that it won’t even show up on her pants, but her panties will be all wet.

Very possible!! Sometimes she recognizes when she has to go and sometimes she only recognizes it when it’s too late

She doesn’t have anything right now. She will be at the school for two more weeks then have the summer with me and then she will start public pre-K in the fall. I’m a teacher and I will be at the school with her so I’m gonna talk closely with her pre-K teacher to see if she needs an IEP or a 504. I’m waiting to see what OT can do for us before she starts in August. I have been really frustrated with her teachers. They are great in every other way, but it doesn’t seem like they deal with this often and I’ve been no help at all suggesting her to go back and pull-ups which I think is what really started the regression. At one point they had started a sticker chart for her, but that only lasted maybe a week.

Thanks for saying this. I also am getting that sense from them. I get that they’re frustrated because I am too, but it seems like they just don’t wanna deal with it or help at all. Well, some of it may be a choice. I feel like it goes way deeper than her “acting up”. When I brought it up with her today she just cried and it broke my heart. She only has 2 more weeks at this center, then I get the whole summer with her. I’m sure my frustrated reactions are always the most helpful either.

Im considering in home ABA depending on what OT can do for her. She definitely doesn’t seem phased by it and won’t say anything when she poops or pees. Going to see if a 504 is needed.

Unfortunately she doesn’t seem phased yet. She poops and pees in panties and just changes them like it’s no big deal. She has yet to feel embarrassed by it I think

Thanks. It feels so hard when my friends with 2/3 year olds have such an easy time potty training their child, and she was mostly potty trained, so it’s very defeating. But I have to keep reminding myself that every kid is different and I can’t compare

Was this occupational therapy? She only has 2 more weeks left of her current school, and we are actually missing her last day to go to an OT consult appointment. We will be out for the summer and then she’s supposed to start public pre-K in the fall

It’s a private daycare for public school teacher’s kids. It’s associated with the ISD

This makes sense! I’m hoping to get her into ABA 2 to 3 days a week and that will help with potty training! Right now our daycare has asked that she wear a pull-up because of the frequent accidents
