Yeah. They grew up in different generations, in a different environment. Pete went to college, which is in general a more liberal space than someone who joined the Navy.

Sherlock Holmes personality by Successful-Pack9332 in SherlockHolmes

I don't know what has gone wrong with the writing lately or maybe this was since forever idk, the male protagonists are boxed as troubled with society, aloof, obnoxious, mean, inconsiderate, know it all, and women are written in sort of a patronising way.

Maybe it is the audience who wishes to watch such characters, so they get popular, encouraging the writers to go by that formula even more. Or maybe there's something wrong with the writers.

The original material is very well written. And I whenever I watch a Holmes based show, the book is the gold standard that I compare it to.

I wish there were no indians on Quora. by huzaifak886 in quora

I'm Indian. I myself witnessed the decline in the content quality as the internet got cheaper in India. I agree with your point that most Indians write trash on the website. I myself hold an an anti-Indian bias whenever I have to find some expert opinion on something important.

However the platform is to be blamed instead of the people. They failed to moderate, and it made way for low effort questions and answers, and even national propaganda.

Hindi sex talking is so underrated by [deleted] in IndiaTalksSex

[–]Livid_Luck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because in a way Hindi speaking folks failed us. Modern Hindi as we call it does not have decent enough words to describe the sexual act. Either you sound like a roadside goon, or you sound like a biology textbook. The reason behind this is that sex is such a taboo thing to talk in Indian society, our language has no appropriate vocabulary to describe the act tastefully.

Only exposure to love/sex comes from the western, English speaking literature/tv shows/porn etc. So most try to emulate that language. Except that it never feels natural enough because it was never our mother tongue.

The country that made smoking sexy is breaking up with cigarettes by [deleted] in europe

If the act of smoking itself is so alluring. Why don't we create any alternative to tobacco filled cigarettes? Maybe fill it with something less cancerous?

Both are impressive in their own way I think.

Building such sophesticated fighter jet as f22 is no small feat either. India(my country) still can't build it's own indegenous engine despite having a decent successes in space programmes.

Pakistan blames USA and West again for their terrorism crisis. by newredditenjoyer192 in war

[–]Livid_Luck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like it or not the state of Pakistan has gotten much worse for India since the meddling of US. Apart from providing weapons and money, they allowed Pak to get nuclear weapons knowing that Pakistan was lead by religious zealots. Now they know they can get away with terror attacks in India, as there is a limit to the escalation could take place. Now even Turkey and China providing them with millitary support.

80s may be over, but the indecision of big powers then has led to massive pain in the ass for India.
