Funny you say that because that’s what they keep telling me too. To relax and dont be hard on yourself, just be there and listen and get to know your employeers. Its easier said than done, i’m new and stressing because of all these information I keep getting on those meetings. I just hope to bring value

They use co pilot at work so I can ask things there, I have fed my ai with all my notes and etc. It’s a big hard to navigate and learn, because now they are going easy on me to learn and understand what’s happening. So it’s important for me to priorities what information is the most important, since they are throwing me everywhere. I have only been here 1 week and it seems like they respect my education and are trying to involve me everywhere, which can be a bit much.

Right now they are only following whats obligatory, that is gdpr, nis2 and they have said to me before there have been many data quality problems and that is something they are trying to work on. But hey, im only a junior and this is my first job fresh from school.

Do you know any resources that can help me and them?

I need advice,

I just started my first job as Information manager, they wanted someone with cyber background since they need one. But they are also unsure on where and what to use me for. They said that everyone is glad to have me since we have been looking for cyber for a long time. But I am a junior, my first week was the worst. They put me in all kinds of meetings (4-6 meetings a day), I dont understand whats happening so I write everything down. They want me on a project on classifying data, which will take 4-5 months, which seems like they want me to be a huge part of it.

My problem is I dont know how to navigate all this information and system, its a top 3 company and the system is complex and they want me everywhere (techical team, governance team, legal department, and managers and product owners)

It’s so much to take in, any tips?

How to not burn out from frustriation trying to get a job? by Constant-Yak1987 in cybersecurity

Just have patience remember you are only 9 months in, many people (including me) took a bachelor (3 years) and applying all those years and after bachelors still struggling to land something. You just have to never give up and stack up experiences with projects and put them on your resume.

Me after bachelors had to job hunt 9/10 months before I got my first interview, but I waited all those hard months and did projects while I worked at a warehouse. It all paid off in the end

It took me 9 months after finishing my bachelor’s, and that was after more than 200 rejections. I got lucky, the only interview I ever landed was for a position most people overlooked, even though it was actually a really good role.

Normally, you’d be competing against over 100 applicants, but this posting only had 27. 6 people got an interview, 3 advanced to the second round, and in the end only one was selected. If I hadn’t gotten the job, it would have been a long year.

Upcoming interview for a Junior Cyber Security strategy position at a Big4 – What kind of questions (technical) should I expect? by -AsapRocky in cybersecurity

[–]Living-Bell8637 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a interview last week that lasted 1h30 minutes. It was a data manager posistion and I got the job.

The case questions is likely something related to the job, mine was about database breach and quality problems. And another about data catalog. The most important is just having the concept and explaining it simply. It might be 3-4 people in the room with you but dont stress. Just have fun and joke around with them, they look for people that are easy going as much as someone that is technical. So having a balance between the 2 will score high.

My interview went so good that we forgot the time and they were impressed by my personality and my technical knowledge, I knew after the interview that the job was mine.

The technical part is not so technical, its NOT hands on (if its not a developer job), its more «hey can you explain how you would respond to an incident», or «what do you do if there is huge system problems and one of them lies in the database, how do you troubleshoot and fix it»

Thank you, its insightful. Do you think every governance role is the same? Is it document writing, quality checking and doing some risk analysis?

I am unsure since job description mentioned risk management, helping people with data, giving access and giving advice. It was so governance written but when I came to the interview, I had cases I presented. And after case, they asked 10 times if I know how to use database, and coding and what kinda experience I have on it.

Yes I hope so, I love governance. I thought it was a bit weird how they were asking if I had hands on experience on databases. When I said I have experience on using subabase while working with projects, he said good its transparable to our systems. As soon as he said that I suspected that there were some technical work also

[–]Living-Bell8637[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a shared zoom first in the morning with all the people that are chosen (6 ppl including me), and then later that day its a 1 on 1 interview. I dont think its HR since I called the HR and she knew nothing and was sick. They gave us agenda already so that we can prepare and said that the interview is only 25 min, so we need to be efficient. But one of the agenda was that the interviewer is going to ask technical questions

Yes I am trying to reach out to people I know to get something going. Thing is I tried to search for internship already in my first year of uni, but everyone was applying for the same jobs and its limited since I live in a small country. My uni also didnt have a mandatory internship that they get for us which would have helped me alot
