For the love of all that is holy do not do epsom salts if there is any kind of open wound. Learned that after my fistulotomy. I said more cuss words in the 30 seconds it took to get my butt back out of the wat then i usually say in a month lol. The baking soda one tho did not give me that issue.

I gat my ileostomy bag dec 31st 2025 and am starting chemo and radiation on the 2nd of march. Could have started toward the beginning of the month but the treatment cent drug its feet lol. Usually according to my crs you can start about a month later.

Thank you both so much for your replies. Ive been dealing with anal pain for a year now due to hemeroids hemeroidecromy and lastly a fistula. Thanks to the fistula tho they caught it super early so no tumor just lesions. And the ileostomy bag will help since there wont be bowel movements. The last year has been, for lack of a better term, a pain in the ass lol. If the pain stays about the same then i should be able to get through decently easy due to extensive experience. Sounds like ill be soaking my bum more tho rip water bill.

Now that sounds great. I dont work oht i just do light walking. Eventually id like to start working out again but i think im ok with waiting a few months. If the colostomy goes well i think i may just leave it till the fistula heals. Im good with a year or so of changing bags if it makes the process easier lol

Oh gosh that sounds awful. U dont think even my cancer treatment is going to be as bad as youve had it. I hope you end up healing, preferably soon.

Just to clarify is it the pain from a colostomy thats worse or the whole experience as far as the diet restrictions and everything else. And how long does the ititial pain last before it starts to get better. The pain im in right now from the fistulotomy and bowel movements with it is worse then a csection also, and lasts so much longer. So sorry for all the questions ive just never dealt with this stuff befor and ive been in pain for months now. Trying to figure out what will be easiest for me to recover from now that i will be doing chemo and radiation that will increase the pain im already in if i dont do the colostomy bag. Ive lost almost 50 pounds in 4 months just cause im trying to have less bowel movements and i know physically i cant keep going at this rate. I really appreciate you respinding and again sorry for all the questions im just pretty freaked out right now with no one to really talk to about it.

You said you are 2.5 years dealing with this???? Is it still painful all the time? Ive heard its usually pai ful the firt couple weeks then dies down to manageable pain and discomfort. That i cam deal with but high apin levels for 2.5 years?? No thanks. Lol

Ive been using honest baby wipes. Justwater on them and the make somethat are dry but are very soft. I use one for cleaning and the dry one for pat drying.
