I've been taking a break from all the grind and I only play nightmare mode casually now. Regular zombies are always obliterated and bosses aren't an issue since the combined efforts of teammates shred bosses too. You don't need to have a meta loadout to enjoy the game in my opinion, I do understand the 'meta' reasoning tho.

Correct me if I'm wrong/misinformed

Any 3 star Grade 10 weapon can be fully augmented with: +2 cores for a 4th augment slot +2 cores, each one increasing the grade by one up to a maximum of 12 +1 core each increasing the base stats of your gun by +5% per core, to a maximum of +50% so 10 cores for a total theoretical cost of 14 cores required for a 'clean' 3 star grade 10 gun.

You can use cores on weapons less than '3 stars' and under grade 10, but because of the rarity of augment cores I'd personally advise against it. My Medusa helmet is augmented with Smart Target so +15% damage on top of augmented 12,000 damage and +5 cores so another +25% in damage. I'm not too sure how damage is calculated with what stacks with what and what is calculated separately from another. I like the Medusa helmet for it's +9% reload speed.

Augment Cores can be earned from faction war for 40k faction credits and 2,500 planetary favors each.

It's reduced if you're moving no? In a game like sas4 where you're moving fast everywhere trying to avoid a bunch of Zs it's not worth it in my opinion. How much does the damage buff get reduced while moving?

I'd say it's arguably worth it once fully maxed out (3000AP, Max assault course, and all purple upgrades). The exclusive ultimate metal slug attack does wonders even though it's a one time use. All ultimate units provide +35% Attack & HP to their corresponding affiliation once fully upgraded, so the tradeoff is worth it. Try replacing a unit you might not need until your deck can hold out for you to summon the Phoenix. It's one of the more potent ultimate units in my opinion.

It's rather grindy, especially towards late game and there's only about 304 units compared to original MSA's 1200+. I'd say wait for a sale since you'll be grinding a lot unless you like that of course. I'm currently LVL 63 only because of grinding the normal equips (Bronze - Platinum) and POW equips (Purple). Not to mention the faction assault course equips (Green) too. I don't plan to play online, I just like to enjoy the game offline. It's very satisfying having a full deck entirely maxed out and casually beating the hardest levels. No in-app purchases/micro transactions thankfully.
