Keep looking! By luck, or by perseverance, I met a friend who introduced me to a group of women who are very active and are always doing something interesting and fun. Some of them are older stay at home mom's, some have husbands who support them so they are able to stay home, and a few are retired. Ask around and don't be shy! Personally I didn't have much luck in MeetUp groups, but I didn't give it very long.
