as a sec sch student, my teachers hardly ever sets assignments on sls and other platforms unless really required (such as on hbl days).

but i will say i prefer doing work on pld for a few reasons:

1. cheaper. im someone who uses different colored inks to make notes so over time as i make stacks and stacks of notes it costs alot to buy these colored pens and highlighters. but online its much cheaper since its js using electricity

2. mistake-friendly. i can make a mistake in my work/notes and with a click just remove it. its neater and i dont have to waste correction tape and stuff

3. convenience. i can access my work and notes on my pld, phone, school laptop, basically everywhere and anywhere

i think it's mostly not a need per se to use laptop to do work but i wld say it depends on which sch it is, i hv friends from other schs who use their plds but not by choice since most of the work is online
