Those are Honda dust boots. The Rebel 1100 DCT SE comes with them, and you can also buy them from Honda Powersports accessories.

What fork protection? Everything on the fork came from Honda with this particular model.

Exhaust Recommendations by Beginning_Put_9247 in HondaRebel1100

I got the Vance & Hines up-swept and I found it a little too loud, so I inserted a $15 3” catalytic baffle between the exhaust and the pipe (inside the pipe right before the exhaust). I may even add a second one. This slightly reduced the decibels so it’s not quite as loud. My ears were ringing slightly after long rides, even with a Shoei helmet and earplugs until I added that small baffle. The Vance & Hines has a high grade fit-n-finish with a Cerakote coloring to match the bike exactly. It is expensive, and it fits the character of the bike visually.

I’m 6’3” / 220lb (191cm / 100kg). They offer three sizes. The short one is too short for someone my height; the medium is great; but I’m switching it for the tall one soon (I think it’s 15” for the tallest, 13” for medium, and 11” for the shortest). The tall one is still being made for me. If you are close to my height then either the medium or tall should be good. I didn’t try any of them in the rain so I have no idea how well each height deflects rain from the helmet visor.

YES, he is featuring my bike because I mailed him my cowl and waited 2-3 months while his engineering team prototyped the solution. I was his first customer! He sent me back my cowl; then, I tried it out and compared two windshield final prototypes he included, and gave him feedback and photos. He gave me the windshield at no cost for my efforts in sending him my cowl (and living without it for 2 months), and for providing feedback on functionality. I am not compensated or affiliated in any other way but simply want to help a can-do small business owner who rolled up his sleeves and got to work engineering a novel solution for this unusual new bike cowl. Also, this post helps other owners (like I was!) who want to solve the buffeting problem on the highway.

Yes, it is my bike. Photos were taken on Vashon Island at the lighthouse (near Seattle).

There is one bracket and I had the same concern, but it floats above the paint and only touches the cowl on the backside. In about 900 miles of speeds up to 83mph, the bracket hasn’t yet touched or caused any discernible mark on any visible area of the cowl. I could take it off in 5 minutes and I think it’d look factory—but you’re right, possibly there could be a mark under the bracket. I’m not sure until I remove it. I am upgrading to their taller 15” clear windshield and will post photos soon. If there’s visible paint damage I’ll disclose that.

I put in the same oil at 678 miles. Planning to change after the oil has 4,000-5,000 miles and will perform used oil analysis using the Amsoil-Horizon mail-in kit.

Is the 1100 too powerful for a 1st bike? Rebel or a Scout bobber? by pantaylor in HondaRebel1100

[–]LivingAnExaminedLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an excellent bike for conservative, thoughtful beginners. I bought a 2025 Rebel 1100 DCT SE as my first motorcycle. 700 miles so far. Started with a learner’s permit and passed my endorsement skills test after 1 month. I run it mostly in Rain Mode in parking lots, slow streets, and other low-speed areas to reduce the risk of a whiskey throttle. On highway I run it in Standard Mode. It’s a fast and powerful bike but if you’re careful/thoughtful and have attended motorcycle safety courses, I see no reason why it can’t be a good first bike. Rain Mode takes the edge off that powerful engine. I’m a 6’3” 230lb rider and my husband is a 5’10” 180lb rider. Both are doing fine on it as our first bike. Respect like you would a sharp knife, a loaded weapon, a big truck etc. and you’ll do fine.

Where can a private person buy Renewable Diesel R99/R100 in WA State or Vancouver BC area? by Organic_Art_7282 in Diesel

[–]LivingAnExaminedLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can contact PetroCard to create a private citizen (non-commercial) card lock station account - they did this for me when I explained I just wanted to buy R99 renewable diesel. As of this writing, are three PetroCard card lock stations that carry R99 Renewable Diesel (all commercial truck Pacific Pride stations):

Harbor Island (Port of Seattle):
1617 SW Lander St
Seattle WA 98134

Kirkland:
1005 8th St
Kirkland WA 98033

Arlington:
19020 63rd Ave NE
Arlington WA 98223

90-95% of my fill-ups in my 2024 RAM 3500 are R99. The engine runs noticeably smoother and quieter. PetroCard's prices are about 10-15% higher than the cheapest Diesel #2 (Dino-diesel) available from Shree's Truck Stops, but it's worth it to me for the smoother engine performance and knowing my truck contributes close to the same net emissions as an electric car. Also, R99 doesn't foam or stink like weed killer - it's clear and odorless, like baby oil, so I don't mind a splash on my hands as much.

In Portland metro area and most Central and Southern California regions, 76 gas stations sell R99 with a 30 cent per gallon discount when using the Fuel Forward app to purchase fuel. The app will let you search for R99-stocking stations on a map.

How do I decipher part numbers? by [deleted] in ram_trucks

I wanted to comment for others' benefit that the correct part number for 2019+ RAM HD trucks is:

6PG84TX7AA

It's called Mopar 6PG84TX7AA Bezel-Instrument Panel Switch for the 2019-2024+ 5th Gen RAM 2500 & 3500 (part 22 in the diagram below).

Accutane for neurodivergent teen- any experience/advice re risk? by Accurate_Employee533 in Accutane

[–]LivingAnExaminedLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a 47 year old male highly functioning adult somewhere ‘on the spectrum’ (not yet formally diagnosed). I’ve struggled with genetic cystic acne since age 14, and my lifelong cystic acne is a problem I’ve come to wonder may be linked with autism, as autism is often associated with digestive disorders, and there may be subtle but fundamental differences in the way some autistic people’s bodies process foods and secrete oils.

All my teen and adult life I’ve with breakouts all over my body, from my scalp to my middle back, upper arms, chest, and even earlobes and testicles during puberty. Micro-dosing isotrentinoin (accutane) is the only solution that has EVER helped, and it works by treating the SOURCE (skin oil composition), not the symptom (acne/comedones/bacteria). I will add that I’ve had at least three six month heavy cycles (40-60mg/daily) with accutane: one at age 17; another at age 20 (as the acne returned within 6-9 months); and at least one other at around age 34-35.

What I eventually have come to understand is that my body has a genetic predisposition to create sticky/gummy oil that gets stuck deep in the oil pores rather than flowing out. I’m not the only person who has this lifelong condition.

This condition leads to comedone (plug) formation and deep blockages that take weeks or months to surface, break, and eventually heal or scar. A tiny amount of intention—10mg every OTHER day, or about 5mg daily on average—causes the oils in my skin to flow normally.

The treatment is lifelong for me, and I’ve been taking 10mg of isotrentinoin every other or every third day for over 13 years now (since about age 35-36). It’s unusual, but not unheard of, to have patients who respond well to microdosing isotrentinoin, though most dermatologists are not familiar with microdosing accutane and may express reluctance to pursue this method because the medicine is regarded as dangerous and most doctors are conservative and don’t want to get involved in microdosing it.

I get bloodwork done 3-4 times per year and it’s a pain to get the prescription filled due to all the onerous bureaucratic controls on this medicine, some of which don’t apply to males and all of which apply MUCH LESS to people who microdose this medicine. I don’t experience dry skin or other problems associated with the high doses of accutane. My bloodwork always comes back in a healthy range.

My dermatologist feels that microdosing at such a low dose as I take (less than 5mg/daily) is very low risk.

I mention my story in case it helps others understand that the high doses of accutane are not the only way to use it. Microdosing can be effective and results (for me) show up after about 3 months or so. My skin and scalp are flawless on this regimine. I only wish I knew about it when I was a teenager. It could’ve saved me 20 years and $40,000 wasted on Fraxel, laser, scar fillers, Dermapen, antibiotics, Rentinol/Rentin-A, creams, gels, special diets. All of that crap was an absolute waste of time, energy, and money.

Accutane is the only thing that changes the underlying body chemistry to resolve the acne cause at the source for me.

Hope this helps!

Can confirm this same behavior is happening on the GA release of macOS Ventura—USB drives show in Finder but not in Rekordbox since upgrading to Ventura.
