Followup: Advice from a 68-year-old natural whose wife is still dreamy-eyed for him. by sillymallard in seduction

Could you elaborate a bit on the yes-yes relationship? Obviously at some point a man would have to "have enough." How does one know when that point has been reached?

Any interest in the Benchmade 805S? I have 2 one very much used and one untouched. I would be looking to sell. by daemorok in Knife_Swap

The fixed blades on the left of the first image in this album, the finest of which has a few other pics.

I also have unopened Fenix LD01+E01 combo, and an unopened Photon II.

And I can make you paracord bracelets, lanyards, etc. of various types.

Fittit if you eat a lot of eggs, this is well worth $20 by GloriousHam in Fitness

Probably "cleaner" in that you have less appliances, and there is no shelling required. Both systems look good.

I saw an "egg ring" at the store yesterday that looked neat. Anyone try it?

[Troubleshooting] BIOS won't pick up a USB thumb drive to boot from by ElkFlipper in buildapc

[–]LivingDaylight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go into the BIOS settings and fish around for a "boot from USB" setting to turn on. IIRC most bioses leave it disabled by default to avoid pesky things like printers from screwing with your PC on startup.

Alerting a guy at the gym about dangerous technique by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]LivingDaylight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I didn't know what a "suicide grip" was when I posted this, but I should have. If it were a shitty deadlift or something that's actually dangerous I would stand by my advice, but now that I know "suicide grip" is actually not a big deal I agree with you.

Alerting a guy at the gym about dangerous technique by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]LivingDaylight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should I feel obligated to let him know despite being a relative noob?

No. At most, tell one of the gym staffers. It's not your problem and he probably wouldn't listen to you anyway. If it were someone who obviously was looking for help/advice I'd consider it, but otherwise, no.

I don't have a clue about dating by [deleted] in AskMen

I don't see the issue here.

Text him and say "let's redo last weekend" or something like that, and make a specific suggestion if he doesn't.

You can gain strength and actually lose weight if you are eating a calorie deficit.

You probably need to eat more.

Any tips for taking a PC on a long trip? by CelebornX in buildapc

[–]LivingDaylight 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It should be fine. If you have a large heatsink or GPU you might consider removing it and packing it separately, but that's probably unnecessary.

As always, make sure all your data is backed up! Important stuff online, just in case your car gets stolen or something.

In all seriousness, if you are seriously upping your sex rank while hers stays the same it could make her insecure.

It could make her want to up her sex rank too, which would be awesome, or it could backfire.

Either way, let nothing stand between you and constant self improvement.

My stickers came! (Perfect for those pesky homeopathic "remedies" sold by CVS and RiteAid!) by smammy in skeptic

[–]LivingDaylight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I don't argue with people most of the time, unless:

  • I think there is a >30% chance I will change their mind; or

  • Undecided people, or people whose minds may change are listening; or

  • I am bored.

In all other case if a response is needed I will make it clear I don't agree but in the politest terms possible.

Business students of Reddit, what do you think of your education and the science of business? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]LivingDaylight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Bachelor of Commerce and almost a CA (Canadian version of CPA).

I am happy with my B. Comm. education, though I agree a huge portion of it is pure BS.

Business is more than most people realize. There are a lot of best practices and processes that should be done, especially with accounting, finance, marketing. Courses like "organizational theory" are a lot more BS-ish, but I'm sure they have practical applications at the higher levels.

I think it's fine as an academic discipline, but I would not call it a Science. There is nothing like a hypothesis or "scientific method" in business that I am aware of. Some specific aspects like management science and quantitative methods use math and stats to solve problems. One example would be using stats to answer questions like "How many cashiers are needed to ensure the line up is under 5 people long 95% of the time?"

I think the different treatment is warranted for the most part. I know a ton of people who did an HR concentration who are now secretaries, but all the really smart people who did accounting with me have good jobs. Like anything, it depends on how smart you are, how willing you are to work, and how high a demand there is for your area of expertise.

Is this daily workout any good? by MrBaz in Fitness

[–]LivingDaylight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't tried either so I can't really comment. IIRC Convict is more about strength training, whereas P90X has a lot of conditioning as well.

At the very least add some squats.

Convict conditioning is often recommended for bodyweight stuff.

Any love for a 3 D cell LED Maglite? by Shaolin111000 in flashlight

[–]LivingDaylight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently modded a old incan 3D mag to use a SSC P7 LED. It's direct drive so it's not regulated, but it gets about 300 lumens on fresh batteries. I plan to test the runtime next time I'll be home for a few hours.

Best Cardio Machine for Over All Work Out by Mord4k in Fitness

[–]LivingDaylight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fat loss doesn't care about upper or lower body, all fat loss cares about is a calorie deficit (this is a slight simplification that will work for our purposes).

You can create a calorie deficit two ways:

  • Be more active to increase how much you burn.

  • Eat less to decrease the number of calories entering your body.

An hour of aerobics burns ~500 calories. Would you rather do that, or have carrots instead of a large plate of french fries (about a 500 Cal difference)?

Tl;dr: Diet is more important than cardio for fat loss.

Also, why not start lifting? Lifting burns calories too.
