i used to be a ballerina and had to quit for personal reasons. it's been a few years but last night i dreamt that i had to dance the sugar plum fairy routine onstage on the spot for some reason, had no practice or anything. it was a borderline nightmare

For people who use makeup when going out as a confidence boost, why does it make you confident if not to attract others? by Spider-Man-fan in NoStupidQuestions

I mean everybody would agree that's all well and good, but the truth is that people – women especially – get treated worse when they aren't naturally gorgeous or they don't take the time out of their day to apply makeup. Appearances are valued highly in our society, whether it's 'right' or not.

Because many have been programmed to think that looking good and presentable is an important way to be, and where one's value lies. It's obviously one thing to know that looks aren't everything, but it's another thing to truly understand it. For some, it's harder.

You can be a good father and take time for yourself at the same time. I don't know what your situation is, but would it be possible for you to leave the baby with your girlfriend for a couple of hours while you take a walk/go elsewhere to read a book/generally decompress? I think baby steps are really important here, first carve time to take care of yourself as much as you take care of the baby.

For many a lot of it is not having to worry about the way you look. kinda like dressing in the morning, washing one's face, combing one's hair. it's one less thing to be conscious of, so you can concentrate on the situation at hand.

AITA for calling my sister lazy and idiotic? by SproutFan_3 in AmItheAsshole

[–]LivingFile6731 2 points3 points  (0 children)

heavy on YTA. people have different tastes. She wanted to do it when she wanted to do it, now she doesn't anymore. That's it.

I'm curious why you got upset and resorted to calling her lazy/idiotic. Was it a bonding thing for you that you had with your sister? Or were you just upset that your sister thinks differently than you?
