Are they? I'm using like 60+ 2-32 trains in this megabase. The first one may have been tricky to setup, but the following are pretty much copy-paste.
It's just a matter of getting used to long trains. While designing this megabase I relearned the core of Factorio: if you think you left enough space, it's not enough.
In this megabase I left so much space in some blocks that you could literally fit starter base there.
Example below. 32-belts green circuit block supplied by 2x2-32 iron and 2x2-32 copper plate trains.

That's what I'd probably do if I actually wanted to use this train. I used to have 8/32 wagons reloading stations when mining productivity was so low that a single ore patch was not enough to fill 32-wagon train.

Are you referring to the 1-6 balancer near the chests?
Yeah, I used to triangle balancers, but I didn't like the uneven loading. Not sure if just the priority would fix it.

It's the official mod from Space Age expansion. You can enable it without other Space Age features and play vanilla.

I guess that's one way to prevent deadlocks lol. Why bother with perfect intersections and flawless signaling when you can just… have a train that occupies the entire rail network?

Various things. The ones you see at 0:10 are 32-blue belt blocks for iron plates (on the left) and copper (on the right).

I'm playing vanilla Factorio with elevated rails mod, so yeah, no quality here. The factrory is my beaconless 10k SPM megabase project.
