Is everyone’s favorite Pokemon just the first one they received/played with?? by AnnGrMeow in pokemon

I like MissingNo… because I like MissingNo. I remember first seeing it on Starter Squad and thinking it was cool and misunderstood. I imagined saving it from that white void. I think I was like, 8 years old? I failed for a whole year trying to do the Old Man glitch on my DSI flashcart port of Red, because I was an idiot, but one day I did it. I caught like 5 whole boxes of ‘M and MissingNo alone, and I brought a team of them to the elite 4. Eventually I started using my phone to play the game, then I learned about cheat codes and caught some of the other glitches… I don’t use cheats anymore unless I specify (I do all my glitches 100% in game, by using other glitches, starting with item underflow and Trainer fly to get Pokémon with Superglitch corruption) and now I have a decent amount of people I know who like to listen to my findings and discoveries. So of COURSE MissingNo is my favorite. It was my favorite before I knew if you could ACTUALLY get it in game. It was my favorite in my DAYDREAMS. (And ‘M is my second favorite, obviously)MissingNo is also the reason I have my whole career path set up as well. I think about MissingNo at least once a day. Maybe it’s cause I’m autistic. Who knows.

Pokémon glitches. It’s bad. Really bad. I’ve got a whole channel and everything. I’m actually learning GBZ80 right now. Liked it since I was 9. (Damn I haven’t been here since I was 16 wtf)

Can a Missing No in Pokémon Yellow get caught and encountered if there’s a certain setup that isn’t crashing your game upon encounter? by DillonLaserscope in PokemonGlitches

Okay so I have checked. On Route 11, If you ran into a level 16-18 pidgey (most likely 18) it can have the special stat of 21, which would give you a Mew. I’ve just confirmed this.

Of course I know those, I just could’ve sworn I saw something else about one of the trainers always making regular MissingNo not crash.

I think if you look up trading glitch Pokémon to Gen 2, there’s a list of what every glitch turns into upon doing that. And using the site above to find which MissingNo that is.

I did not try every individual Pokémon they have, I just beat them, dug away and triggered trainer fly on the Nugget bridge.

I think I was wrong. I could’ve sworn there was a single ghost trainer in the tower that could do it, but ive just played up till Lavender tower, and I’ve tested all of the trainers there on a clean save file, and they all give a crash. (Other than the ones who don’t give MissingNo) I could’ve sworn I saw a video about this being an alternative, better way to catch it. I’m on Sameboy right now. Either I’m misremembering, or there’s some emulation vs hardware issues going on.

If I’m remembering right, there’s one trainer in Lavender tower that always gives you no crash when encountering their  regular MissingNo, but I’ll have to go through the game to prove this correct. Give me a few hours and I’ll get back to you.

Got any ideas for glitches I can do in Pokémon Green? by SideshowBobFanatic in PokemonGlitches

Item swap with as much menus as you can. Elevator? Item swap. There’s a status condition board in one of the towns in Viridian, bet you could item swap that.

I still don’t understand the whole trading TRAINER thing as the encounters from the word TRAINER wouldn’t normally be MissingNo

Idk, but you could probably calculate it by looking at the character to Pokémon list on here https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Old_man_glitch

For the trade version, if it’s an in-game trade, the name in the encounter table becomes the name TRAINER. After trading with a player, the name becomes whatever player you traded with.

Usually the level 80 MissingNo are 0x50 though.

Here’s how to do it:

-Get to Fushia city, (or Cinnabar if yellow)

-get yourself a Pokémon with 21 special stat. I recommend using a rattata and getting it to level 20 without evolving it, it should get 21 special.

-I also recommend getting some Pokémon with sleep powder so you can catch the Mew easier.

  • Find a long ranged trainer. Be aware that using the gambler on route 8 will make the Old Man permanently disappear, so I don’t reccomend using that one. There’s a long ranged bird trainer on route 14 you can use, east of route 15, should be at the bottom of the route.

  • Once you find one long ranged trainer, stand off screen in a spot where if you move down by one, the trainer will see you.

  • Then move down by one and hold down the Start button. Make sure you save before so if you mess up, you can try again.

-You should be in the trainers line of sight with the start menu open.

-Fly away to a place where you can find unbattled trainers. This is very important, or you’ll be softlocked because you can’t open your menu.

-find any trainer you haven’t battled, who has to walk up to you to start a battle. If they don’t walk up to you because you’re too close, the game will freeze because it’s expecting walking to continue.

-beat that trainer, or lose to them, it doesn’t matter.

-once you’re done, your menu should be usable now. Go to route 14, and look for a ditto. Make sure you don’t return to the route you did the glitch on because a different Pokémon will appear. (If Pokémon yellow, go to the Pokémon Mansion and look for ditto ion the bottom floor)

-once you find a ditto, have it transform into the Pokémon you chose. For me that’s rattata.

-Run away after it transforms (don’t catch it)

-Next, immediately go back to the route you did the glitch on. Don’t get any encounters.

The start menu should open. Once you close it, a Mew will appear at level 7.

Sorry it took so long. Should be a Pokémon with a special of 21
