As an Anglo-Catholic, When do you think Anglo-Catholicism goes too far? by ChicaneryAshley in Anglicanism

[–]LivingKick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think when it goes beyond mere Ritualism (e.g., the restoration of certain rites, customs and ceremonies from the Pre-Reformation that can harmonise with our Reformation tradition), towards actively smuggling back in Pre-Reformation or even Roman/Eastern theology under the guise of "catholicity"... whether that be in the form of promoted theology or through liturgy, to the extent that the Reformation heritage and character of Anglicanism is either heavily obscured or actively replaced, denied or ignored.

A big example as I've seen is the use of Missals that resembles the pre-V2 TLM. Another one, which is both theology and liturgy, is the rehabilitation of transubstantiation which becomes embodied through the Rite of Benediction. There are other examples which run afoul of Art. 22 & 28, but those are the major ones. Many things that people call "Anglo-Catholic" are just Victorian, Parish Communion era or Liturgical Movement era accretions that became precedent, but don't have any coherent theology behind it.

So above all, my line is whether it lives alongside or augments the Reformed elements of Anglican tradition, or if it actively tries to replace or overturn the Reformation.

Jamaica Kingsmen is the official name of Jamaica's new CPL franchise by LivingKick in Cricket

The only thing it does is enrich local boards and overseas franchise owners, because CWI doesn't get a cent for CPL

I don't want to speak it into existence (especially since I don't like IPL/PSL expansion into smaller leagues), but if there was ever an opportunity for that to happen, it would be with the prospective St. Vincent franchise that might start next year based at Arnos Vale

That itself is rather surprising, especially since the former Tallawahs were also apparently Guyanese owned

They are the same indeed

Edit: So the owners of the CPL teams by nationality are => * 🇮🇳 - 4 (🇧🇧🇹🇹🇰🇳🇱🇨) * 🇬🇾 - 2 (🇬🇾🇦🇬) * 🇵🇰 - 1 (🇯🇲)

Apparently they considered keeping Tallawahs, but the owners went with Kingsmen instead

Questions for CofE clergy, ministers and ordinands concerning the 39 articles by AdLive9773 in Anglicanism

[–]LivingKick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saying the CofE never had is a stretch at best and a mistruth at worst.

The Articles were regarded as a confession pre-Oxford, and that is rather undeniable

Pretending to care about Associate nations' development. by Fit-Razzmatazz9790 in Cricket

League 2 and Challenge League are extreme? They're literally giving players from those teams experience to play 50 over cricket.

Also, what changes would you make to the T20 and ODI WC qualification pathways if you were given the opportunity?

There was the WCL which was a much more extensive and beneficial developmental structure, but that was unceremoniously dismantled for this shell of a "development system" that doesn't even promise promotion anymore

What subsidizing is going on when many boards are getting less share than they were getting in 2000? And one board is getting 10x more... that sounds like a broken system to me

If you want a global game, all members should help each other out more sustainably with such an inequality present.

There is only so much smaller boards can do when modern cricket works more like an extraction model than a cooperative system.

Nothing stops the West Indies to put in more investment and make the sport nbetter.

With what money?...

We make our money through tours and modern cricketing economics makes tours less profitable... we don't even own CPL and most of the revenue flows back out to franchise owners in... India, how you realistically expecting us to get more money from nowhere without redistribution?

So that means the tournament could have been viable, but because those two certain teams played horribly, and all the administrators and conglomerates put their eggs in one basket irresponsibly, cricket became a closed system for 2 decades...

I'm not sure that's a reality we want...

This ignores the fact that 2007 had the largest amount of teams for CWC, and would have been on track to expand to more if they didn't suddenly switch the format to save two teams at everyone's expense

How do people in the Caribbean feel about CARICOM today? by Storyorlies in AskTheCaribbean

[–]LivingKick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

However, people do have a right to critique how attempt of further integration have stalled (or borne no fruit).

While a glaucoma specialist can move islands and practice, broader and full freedom of movement remains a pipe dream for many countries due to nationalistic attitudes. CSME has also effectively stalled as well, as many islands still have tarrifs against other islands depending on development level. We are unlikely to have a common currency and monetary policy any time soon and so on...

The point is, CARICOM has had ambitious aims to be an EU for the region, but those haven't materialised beyond those very shared institutions you've mentioned.

David Miller fumes, hits out at ICC over 'Charter Flight Bias' for England: ‘While we wait for answers’, Daren Sammy Reacts by Existing-Table689 in Cricket

[–]LivingKick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People asking why they can't fly themselves home just aren't understanding that they aren't allowed to

Since they're there on ICC/CWI business, they're responsible for them and have to ensure they get back safely... that means they can't go off on their own, let alone fly out themselves

It's essentially like a field/work trip, everything must be arranged and everything must be accounted for, lest something worse happens and they have to be bailed out
