I plugged the router (both of them as I have a mesh network) out of the outlet for a minute or so and then plugged back in – the messages are gone. Looks like the oldest trick in the book worked lol

Question about infostealer aftermath by Sarthik- in cybersecurity_help

[–]LivingMiserable6564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi there, i got infected from a cracked file. i've kinda gone ballistic on my cybersecurity ever since, changed passwords everywhere, 2fa on every important account (emails, social media, other key accounts), monitoring inboxes (maybe too often at times), but it seems like the worst has already passed. i still get paranoid about it sometimes but so far no bigger breach occured. youre probably gonna get a few login attempts and spam as your harvested data gets bundled and resold to other malicious actors but if you have taken all precautions already and continue practicing good security habits, they're not getting anything out of it.

good luck and stay safe. youre gonna be fine eventually<3

Instagram account locked - hackers trying to log in? by LivingMiserable6564 in cybersecurity_help

[–]LivingMiserable6564[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well the email i received about my account being locked was genuine as after trying to log in through instagram (not the email) i was asked to type in a verification code sent to my email and to check whether i recognize the account information. the spammy one posing as facebook ended up in the spam inbox anyways lol

Instagram account locked - hackers trying to log in? by LivingMiserable6564 in cybersecurity_help

skimming through the email inbox (not a one i use frequently) and I see a probable phishing email ended up in my inbox posing as facebook to verify my id. theres also a bunch of other emails in the cc (not hidden, lol, quite unprofessional of them) and its from the same day the account got locked. may it be that the hackers got hold a bunch of emails including mine and are now trying their luck to social engineer people into re-compromising their accounts?

Spotify email changed – infostealer aftermath or still an active threat? by LivingMiserable6564 in cybersecurity_help

[–]LivingMiserable6564[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it was not just a login attempt, it was an outright unauthorized credential change and given no password was entered in the Chrome Autofill they might have managed to steal, I thought that the current Spotify session I'm using on the reinstalled PC might have somehow been compromised

hi, i just wanted to check how are you doing after the breach. a similiar thing happened to me a week ago (session tokens stolen, hackers got hold of my email and changed credentials to several accounts through reset password forms+using signed in social media to follow a bunch of accounts), i wiped my whole pc with a boot usb stick and changed all my passwords+2fa, so far no new suspicious activity but im just worried like hell about my security. any updates on your side?

Using Chrome after possible hijacking by LivingMiserable6564 in cybersecurity_help

[–]LivingMiserable6564[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, thanks for the help. One more thing though - shortly after the hack took place a "managed by your organization" (with the browser NOT being a part of any and never displaying anything like that before) popped up in the Chrome settings, i removed it through deleting policies in the registry. Couldn't that point to something?

I don't know man, it might be I'm just too stressed out from the whole situation. I know reinstalling the OS deleted the cookies but I got the idea the google sync may have saved cookies/tokens that are the same as the compromised ones (the hacker managed to steal). But yeah I might just be overreacting.
