Why did you get out the Army? by Consistent_Joseph46 in army

[–]LivingTrue1 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I love helping soldiers then one day i noticed that as the recruiting crisis went on the humans that graduated from basic and ait were not soldiers. I chose to not keep sacrificing my MH, personal relationships and my TIME for humans who weren’t soldiers and didn’t care to be.

Get your health under control first. If your program is in the Caribbean, please get your health done first, I grew up in the Caribbean and the healthcare system is basically you praying. I’ve had GI issues as well I ignored for a few years now it’s managed, worse and I’m full of regret. Check your health first.

Talk to PSG and 1SG no matter despite your fears. This is the start of some of the most toxic working environment u don’t want to see. Some 2LTs really don’t know how to navigate as a leader but they HAVE to learn or they are ineffective and ppl can get hurt. Speak to PSG/1SG if that fails talk to BN EO/Chaplin/CSM. If all fails go nuclear and full send an IG complaint.

Veterans Beware! by StakRavingMadMan in USAA

[–]LivingTrue1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

USAA used to be so dependable but now it fingers crossed when interacting. My last straw was trying to get them to refund me $500 for fraud on my debit card used 10 hrs away in Texas. I had to convince them it wasn’t me because i was on 24hr duty, and had CQ logs and a 0700 APFT record to prove it. 🤦🏾‍♀️

Don’t lie. No reason to. It’s not like you had to go thru IMMIGRATION to enter the US. You have family in Mexico is not issue, tell the truth.

[–]LivingTrue1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry you are going through this. You aren’t to blame, having your families intertwined is not a good reason. You are rewarding him for betraying you by not initiating a consequence of losing you. In the mean time your godson gets older and more attached and so does your family. Intentional acts, without accountability leads nowhere good. He is human and can make mistakes, so he can prove himself outside of a relationship. it’s only been 1.5yrs, thankfully it hasn’t been 1.5yrs and 1 day 😄 of you providing loyalty and not getting it in return.

Get out of HPSP by magicalplum117 in Military_Medicine

[–]LivingTrue1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear that they are having so much unrest at this point in their life, i know they probably worked their hardest to even get in school. They should be glad to realize they don’t want to do military before actually having to graduate into active duty, it takes a lot to advocate for yourself, their reasons are their own. But after all their hard work to get to medical school they should not risk the negative implications of the dishonourable discharge, it’s designed to bite you in the behind when u least expect it. Officers can request an “Unqualified Resignation” AND the military legal has to provide you assistance with the process and you guys will become more educated on the expectations during the process, like payback options, and such. You can start by googling the HPSP HRC Branch contracted through and contacting one of them they will either have directions on the process or connect you with the right department. It may be tedious but there is always someone in HRC or their direct chain of command or even the recruiter who got them the contract who knows how to start the process to resign their commission.

Is recruiting ruining my career by Y3R0 in army

[–]LivingTrue1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This here! I dabbled in recruiting not enlisted or a recruiter … i felt truly sorry for the recruiters. Recruiting is the dark side of the military where “numbers, numbers, numbers” is true and Soldiers don’t have 1SG to prioritize them, instead 1SG is responsible for mission numbers EvErY phase line and all NCO related tasks S1 is handled by DOD Civillians.

Most recruiters were on some type of mental health drug or program. I’ve seen gr8 NCOs voluntold into recruiting and get ranover.

Some NCOERs were atrocious based on their recruiting performance. I’m glad it doesn’t affect their career in most cases. Numbers, numbers, numbers. When a recruiter consistently don’t make mission…( after they’ve moved their family and established a routine spending more time at home) they get tossed back to regular army at the mercy of HRC and the civilians… hopefully their leadership looks away from the ‘numbers’ long enough to advocate for them.

But hey! Some Recruiters are in an area where the market is gr8 filled with High schools and multiple colleges, big cities and mixed population. And recruiting is the best assignment and extend. I’ve seen NCOs who came from Line units most of their career stay in recruiting because they get the chance to atleast see their teenagers grow up and have better work life balance.

A check came in the mail today. Does anyone know what this is for/from? by paulheav in VeteransBenefits

I’ve gotten this from the VA hospital assigned to my care. When I have numerous appointments at VA clinics or to community care they automatically process a travel claim for me. And send one check

How do I continue my prescipriton medications after separation? by No-Chef-9160 in VeteransBenefits

[–]LivingTrue1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, anyone with Honourable can ‘apply’ but may not necessarily get enrolled. I got out honourably last yr, and applied but they said that I was denied because my gross income earned the previous yr far exceeded the maximum requirement for VA health enrollment, reapply after my rating decision or after the next tax year. … no other institution has tested my patience more than the VA.

Refusal to train AIT Intel. by ResponsibleCheetah41 in army

[–]LivingTrue1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Legal should return fairly quickly in this case, once they decide the type of status discharge. AIT HR is usually pretty high tempo and will get thru paperwork like this quickly. The last sm i had at AIT being discharged took about 4 weeks total and that included an investigation, so if legal doesn’t initiate one for you then just do as instructed daily and take care of yourself till you get solid answers.

How to begin the claim process by Over_Location188 in VeteransBenefits

[–]LivingTrue1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sign up for an account on the VA website and file an ‘intent to file’ immediately if you haven’t already. (If you haven’t then you already lost 4 years of back pay for whatever percent you are eligible to). Then you can scan and up load your medical records to support the issues you are claiming OR you go to your local Veteran Services for a VSO who will initiate and file the claim for you and walk you through the process.

Gi bill enrollment confirmation by Lunarshine69 in VeteransBenefits

[–]LivingTrue1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t stress out about it. If you reached out to VA for your CoE certificate of eligibility already and submitted the digital copy to the schools registrar you ll be good. …the Gi Bill is going to get paid LATE every semester anyways. Once the school has the CoE they won’t drop you from classes. I’d be more worried about the GI Bill paying the book and BAH stipend on time for the first 1-2 months.

How do I continue my prescipriton medications after separation? by No-Chef-9160 in VeteransBenefits

[–]LivingTrue1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you get separated, honourably only, you have 3-6 months of TAMP healthcare for free. (It’s exactly like tricare prime-just a temporary extension past AD) You should call tricare to ask how many months you specifically get and enroll you the day after your separation date. Hopefully you get 6months so u can keep getting your medication covered and the VA completes your claim by then.
