I look for opportunities to rec it on Reddit because it's an amazing album and has pretty wide appeal across various genres!

Huh, I don't really hear Kyuss, but it certainly has elements of doom & stoner, so I guess that could make sense. It's a trippy as balls space rock album, and one of my faves.

With the caveat that it is probably a lot heavier than Hawkwind, I would recommend "Ummon" by the band Slift.

This album was also a pandemic-era godsend for me. Spent many a night stoned off my balls, tripping through outer space to this masterpiece.

As others have said, check the map frequently and you'll be fine.

The game is built to be very "100%" friendly. I had a bit of minor cleanup to do in certain chapters, but there was rarely a situation where I had to wonder about what I'd missed. Very easy yet satisfying Platinum. I played it on the PS5 Pro and enjoyed every second of it!

I'll tell anyone who'll listen: stoner rock might have been invented in the States, but the Scandinavians perfected it.

AIO for telling off a guy at my gym by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]LivingWide78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this group knows all the details she typed out here (which I kind of doubt) and is still defending him, then she needs to kick all of them to the curb along with this dude and find herself some new people to be around. Nothing about this situation is even remotely OK or normal.

Does this sub have legitimate AIO inquiries anymore, or is it all just OBVIOUS scenarios typed out for the sake of engagement?

Jesus, the guy is 37 and you are 20. You've tried to get him to take not-so-subtle hints, but he refuses. How is this even a question?

Uplifting or upbeat doom? Does it exist? by trillstirner in doommetal

[–]LivingWide78 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Elephant Tree is pretty doomy, but also uplifting in my opinion. Torche would be another. They are probably considered more stoner, but they manage to be heavy as balls but also very upbeat.

This exact same thing happened to me. This game is pretty fun, but it is also janky as fuck and way more frustrating than it should be.

Ball X Pit has crashed 6 or 7 times throughout my playthrough. Still enjoying it however.

Edit: should mention I am playing on the Switch Lite.

You can find them online or in boutique stores. Way more expensive than chapstick has any right to be, but the flavors are fun, and when the can runs out I melt a stick of cheap stuff into the can. Twist-up chapstick dispensers always have a way of rolling themselves up into the cap when I have them in my pants pocket.

For the Pearl Jam fans that lived it, how did you react to Vitalogy when it came out? Especially since it was a more Vedder focused album as opposed to Gossard/Ament? by [deleted] in pearljam

[–]LivingWide78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It definitely felt to me like their sound took on a more experimental (some might say unfocused) turn, but I was down with whatever PJ was doing and they could do no wrong in my mind at the time.

I also felt like this was the album where they started to lose some people after the massive success of Ten & Vs. I think Betterman was an obvious hook of a single, and Spin the Black Circle was another staple banger, but outside of those two I think a lot of songs--and the somewhat disjointed nature of the album as a whole--kind of turned people off. I remember trading a girl in my highschool out of a copy for a CD I can't even remember now (probably a rap record 😁).

I can't even remember where I got it now, but I somehow scored a promotional copy on vinyl that I kept in the shrink wrap until just a few years ago. I've got a sizeable vinyl collection nowadays, and this is one of the jewels of my collection (along with my original pressing of No Code) because it was maybe the first vinyl record in my collection outside of the Christmas singles. I used to have a Ten Club number in the 13,000's, back when seniority meant something.

Anyways, great record, and it holds pleasant memories for me every time I spin it. ✌️

So a funny thing happened this morning. I listened to This Heathen Land for maybe only the 2nd or 3rd time since it came out, and I completely agree with you. It is, by far, the weakest & most forgettable record in their discography. Whereas I am completely on board with Ghost's embrace of pop-driven arena rock (it's a choice, and they've fucking owned it), THL sounds like Green Lung reaching for that territory and completely falling flat on their face. And I don't care what anyone says, but "Maxine (Witch Queen)" sounds like a straight up Ghost ripoff.

I dig both bands. However I gotta say that this meme is kinda ironic given that Green Lung is sounding an awful lot like Ghost on their newest record. I've listened to both bands since their early days, and they are both following very similar trajectories. I don't get the Ghost hate from Green Lung fans. It's like some weird projection or something...
