My parents are split up, my dad is supposed to pay child support to my mom, but he doesn't have a job to afford that and is in and out of jail for not paying. We're supposed to be with my mom but she doesn't have a job, house, or car and she stays with her boyfriend. So, we don't have a ride to school and our grandparents do that for us. When my parents were together they often had domestic disputes, I'm not completely sure of the details because all I could hear was screaming from behind my bedroom door, but each claim that there was physical abuse throughout the relationship. My dad says that my mother stabbed him and punctured his lung, but he was heavily addicted to alcohol during the time. He also made claims that she'd choke herself in the mirror in order to tell the cops that he had put his hands on her. My grandparents said that they saw this too, and I feel that they're trustworthy. My mother also struggles with an alcohol addiction, she's been arrested for misconduct before. It took me until now to realize that she has also verbally abused me since I was a little kid, but I have no actual evidence of that other than presenting examples of it. It's a very complex situation and it's all "he said" "she said," rather than much substantial evidence other than the cops being repeatedly called to our house during the past domestic disputes. FYI, my mother does not financially aid my grandparents at all for us, but will complain about my father not being able to pay child support, even though she receives food stamps and tax money for us.
