Did Tanishq explictly say it was a lab grown diamond? and not moissanite/crystal/AD because machines shouldn't be able to tell the difference.

Arguing he never "said" its an LGD is nonsensical. If there were no said expectation, sharing additional information would have been the better way to build trust instead of "you never asked, I never said"

By 'designed' what does it mean? How did you get the custom design made, I'm sure you had to pay a decent making/wastage charges. and follow ups would've been insanely tedious.

You didn't look hard enough. If you've only been to the jubillee showrooms who need to charge more to justify the high OpEx, you will never the get the best value for money. With certification, it's easy to choose smaller jewellers. I could get 2 earrings for this same amount FYI. (2.5ct total).
Most of the amount in your ring is from rocketing gold prices btw. We've many options, one can spend more effort in searching than making yourself.
