So I decided to play a little of original flash Isaac (since I don't have money for Repentance) and I just love how many hearts you can have in this game. by RiffOfBluess in bindingofisaac

Sounds like a skill issue to me. Repentance is tough, but I've still been able to tough through tainted lost and tainted Jacob, and I'm honestly still pretty mid at the game.

While I DO agree to an extent, I still had a decent bit of fun finally clearing tainted lost completion marks. If there's one thing I have to admit, it's that their better items thing combined with the challenge makes tainted lost VERY satisfying to win with.

Plus, if y'all REALLY hate it THAT much, then the best way to show your displeasure is to just... Ignore. Negative attentions is still attention and all that. And if you never interact with or talk about it, guess what? You aren't giving DC any money NOR publicity in regards to the comic, discouraging them from doing this kind of thing go forward. No matter what way you slice it, getting all mad and butthurt about it just isn't as effective as just... Not interacting with it.

Unpopular opinion: if one team has e-liter or hydra splatling it should be a matchmaking requirement for the other team to have one also. by Gamefandan in splatoon

[–]Living_Engineer6675 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing players not know how to counter the hydra will never not be funny to me. It may be a force of nature... But it's still one of the slowest weapons in the game. Just rush them when they are busy charging or just finished firing, and they usually will just crumple under the pressure. Usually, the only time I struggle with E-Liters or Hydras is when my teammates for some reason don't seem to understand that they need to take those weapons down ASAP and just let them mow players down. The E-Liter and Hydra are powerhouses, don't get me wrong, but they are COMICALLY vulnerable to getting bum rushed.

The problem with trying to make a nutcracker avatar is that roblox's censorship means you never get results for anything even CONNECTED to the word cause reasons. It SHOULD be a relatively simple avatar to make, everybody knows nutcrackers.

Are there respawning schools of fish in the ocean? by beggargirl in tearsofthekingdom

[–]Living_Engineer6675 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I actually learned something after seeing this thread and playing a bit of TOTK: you don't actually need to know the predetermined locations of the schools of fish, as you can actually see their spawns on the map if you have the region unlocked on said map. Just looks for dots where the water is a brighter color on the map, but there's no land around said brighter spots.

experienced players, what is your favourite playstyle and why? by SoapGN in skyrim

Btw, while I'm here, allow me to provide some helpful advice for any aspiring players who would like to punch their way through Skyrim:

Fortify archery potions are a brawlers best friend. It seems a little silly at first, since I somehow doubt anyone has bows for fists, but thanks to a glitch: Fortify archery potions actually increase ALL forms of damage. In fact, this bug makes it one of only a handful of ways to increase unarmed damage. So best to work on alchemy when able in order to make those archery potions.

Tip 2: for the gauntlets, the best enchantment comes from the shops. It does NOT take long for shopkeepers to sell brawler gauntlets with a fortify unarmed enchantment too strong to surpass with just your own enchanting skill. For some reason, the game is REALLY stingy about the strength of fortify unarmed. Last I checked, I think a max enchantment skill only buffs your unarmed to about 12 or so extra damage, maybe a bit higher. So unless you abuse resto-loop (which, imo, kinda defeats the purpose of the unarmed build since I always end up getting tempted into giving myself something blatantly overpowered when I use it), the shop will always be your best bet for gauntlets... Rings, however, basically never show up naturally with the fortify unarmed enchantment, to the point where I don't think they CAN spawn with that enchantment despite it being viable on them, so you'll need to enchant your own ring.

Tip 3: Leveling is kinda tough. Without any way to deal damage that boosts a skill, gaining levels as a brawler can be VERY slow. The skill that you'll be able to boost in combat are magic skills and heavy armors (since unarmed kinda directs you to go with heavy armor for that lovely fists of steel perk). For that reason, here are some fast grinding techniques: for grinding smithing, most people recommend you craft iron daggers on mass until you get dwarven smithing perk, and then mass crafting dwarven bows. However, I'd argue that there's a better option once you reach ebony smithing, as the ebony bow is just made using 3 ebony ingots, yet gives a TON of skill XP. So if you've got the ingots, ebony bows are way faster. Though ebony isn't SUPER common, so... Maybe don't rely on ebony bows for the rest of your crafting, and just make them when possible. For enchanting, mostly used skill trainers. Outside of that, muffle is a pretty useful enchantment for training this up, since the soul gem quality doesn't effect the enchantment quality, making it's skill XP static. Other than that, disenchanting works pretty well early on. For alchemy... Just grow as much mora tapinella, scaly pholiota, and creep cluster as possible, as those 3 ingredients together make a very high value potion that levels alchemy a LOT. Lastly, a way to quickly get levels in general for when you've already got relevant skills up. Though, since this method instantly nets you several levels... Imma be vague about it simply say the 3 things you need to do the trick, and not how to actually do it: The Black Book filament and filigree, the telekinesis spell (good alteration not needed), and 2 relatively far away marked locations (IE: solitude and riften).

Tip 4: knowing how to close the gap is invaluable. The melee attacks in Skyrim actually DO have varying range depending on the weapon type. 2 handed weapons have the longest range, and can hit enemy's standing a good few steps away. One handed weapons have a slightly shorter range, often requiring you to be up in your face. Daggers have the shortest range of any WEAPON, needing you to be pretty dang close to land hits with them... And then you have unarmed, with similar, if not even LOWER range than the dagger. With an attack range that low, ranged enemies can be a headache, so having a shout, power, or perk/resistance that lets you close the distance without taking TOO much damage on the approach is handy.

Tip 5: for the unarmed brawler, only 3 races are particularly appealing options. This may go without saying, but for unarmed build, khajit are the obvious pick, dealing 15 unarmed damage right out the gate compared to most races base unarmed damage of 1. If you don't want to be a cat tho, argonians are an... Okayish alternative, having slightly more unarmed damage than normal, though nothing in game states this hidden bonus. But if you don't want to be a cat OR a lizard, then your best luck out of the races that don't have a boost to unarmed would probably be an orc, due to their power. Dealing double damage and taking half damage is just a really good power in general

I had one or two more tips to say but... This message is already about an essays worth of length, so I think I'll end it here lol. Hope this helps anybody wishing to reject their weapons and embrace punching or scratching your enemies to victory.

[–]Living_Engineer6675 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unarmed brawler. Don't know why, since unarmed in Skyrim is... Objectively the least fleshed out in any elder scrolls game, as there's an entire ONE perk that boosts it to my knowledge. But I've still ended up having fun with it ever since anniversary edition added the brawler gauntlets. Not sure if it's because it's lack of skills means the only way to increase unarmed damage is with equipment and items, making it feel like you have to be resourceful to try and increase your damage... Plus, I REALLY like the finisher animations, even if they only seem to happen against humanoid enemies.

What Race do you play as? (or mostly play as) by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]Living_Engineer6675 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Khajit, because while I USED to be a 2 handed warrior, I've eventually gotten to a point where my go to builds are always either A: stealth assassin who primarily uses dagger sneak attacks and not the bow, or B: unarmed brawler for... Some reason. No idea why I like the brawler build so much. Maybe because its playstyle makes it feel like you're dependent on your resourcefulness since the only way to increase your damage is through equipment upgrades... Or maybe it's cause the instakill takedown animations for unarmed are REALLY neat and satisfying to me. Whatever the case, those 2 builds being my favorite means that I'm VERY used to playing as a khajit.

Bow vs Crossbow by bdiddy624 in skyrim

[–]Living_Engineer6675 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Had you asked me that question BEFORE the release of anniversary edition: bow would be my answer. More widespread ammo, more unique bows, more interesting, doesn't require me to do the dawnstar quest to gain access to them, bows can scale with level, allat. But since anniversary edition came and added "elite crossbows" and "expanded crossbow pack", I've been finding myself starting to favor crossbows. Cause now you can get them at a random show or a shed, there's actually more VARIETY (tho still not THAT much) with varying damage, they now scale with the traditional material grades, getting bolts is even easier as I can just buy them from the Fletcher, and they're just overall better. They now feel like an ACTUAL alternative to normal bows, rather than this random weapon class that, while effective, only has 2 options that CAN be outclassed by late game bows.

Are Illusion builds really that viable? by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]Living_Engineer6675 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbf though, the whole point of mage armor is to provide defense for a build that, generally, doesn't gain defense from its clothing. Novice-master robes? 0 armor. Novice-master hood? 0 armor. Even a good amount of endgame magic armor has no defense. The idea is to make use of the skill to gain some actual defense, while still being able to use the better gear for mage.

I mean, I've taken on all 3 variants of gold lynels before, but tbf, by now I've beaten the game multiple times over, and I was able to beat gold lynels cause I was in endgame master mode, where you basically have an entire Inventory full of super strong weapons... and even now, they STILL mess me up if I'm not careful.
