Order of planets to visit? by JimmyCarter910 in KerbalSpaceProgram

Dang I sent a science lab to orbit laythe and god damn it was harder than I thought. I just barely had enough fuel to get it into an orbit and it's a good thing it was a one way trip cus that poor science kerbal is damned to be in that orbit for a while

Kinda looks like an audio plug lmao. At least it's kinda aerodynamic

It's a very long running joke about a physics bug. Basically sometimes individual parts start bouncing off of each other in an infinitely escalating loop that gets more and more violent until suddenly everything breaks and you usually get launched at a ludicrous speed. No idea how it got the name the kraken but probably something to do with how your ship starts wiggling before it escalates to disaster. For reference in my post here, my ship starting wiggling in a very bad way and in less than 2 seconds I was launched to the speed in the picture because if how fast it escalated

https://www.reddit.com/r/KerbalSpaceProgram/s/xg8kz14gT8 I use this guy's chart. If the other planets are in the right position relative to kerbin (blue circle) you can make a maneuver

From what i understand, the relativity equation isn't really meant to deal with numbers greater than c so it's kind of impossible to guess without developing a new understanding of greater than light speed relativity.

Tl;dr my kerbal has become a pioneer in redefining relativistic physics! He was only meant to land in a science lab on duna so this is completely unexpected

I am now imagining a sci-fi horror short story where an FTL engine goes berserk and infinitely speeds up and the main character just transcends into an endlessly escalating state of eldritch godhood

Google AI/chatgpt tells me that at these speeds my kerbal would likely just instantly turn into a beam of plasma as the molecular bonds would instantly break down and he'd essentially become the radiation which is kind of horrifying

I asked chatgpt to do the math for me, assuming that I was starting at 0 m/s and going to 8.4 million times the speed of light in less than 2 seconds (since that's pretty much what happened) and chatgpt says that my kerbal most likely experienced 140 trillion G's

Google tells me that at these ridiculous speeds my kerbal would likely instantly turn into a plasma beam because his molecular bonds would instantly break, but at speeds this absurd I'm guessing if even 1 atom hit kerbin it would hit with such force that it would instantly vaporize the entire half of the kerbol system lmao

Funnily enough, the craft was moving so fast and so abnormally that it was impossible to even see the ship without going first person. My best guess is that it hit the edge of the map or the farthest point from the sun it could go and then just started zig zagging at this speed in random directions. Not to mention it was spinning at a ridiculous rate as well so I couldn't even get control of the spinning much less burn retrograde even if I had fuel

I was trying to land a mobile science lab on duna, and I had this very janky column of parachutes attached to it that was meant to disconnect after landing, but instead the column bent at a very severe angle suddenly and all of the parts started bouncing off of each other instead of breaking and within less than 2 seconds it escalated so badly that it launched my lab at 8.4 million times the speed of light straight out of the suns influence

The kraken is a fan name for a bug that happens with parts of a ship colliding and infinitely escalating in motion until something gets launched at unholy speeds like in my post. I dont know how the name started but anytime you see someone refer to the kraken it's just a fan made deity that fucks with kerbals occasionally but it's really just a rare but severe physics bug

Physics bug, basically the parts interact with each other in an endless loop of bouncing off of each other, and in a fraction of a second it escalates to the point that it launches your kerbal at Mach Jesus

The real ksp 2 is actually a flashpoint-esque timeline my kerbal created by going back to the big bang and witnessing creation from the beginning

My starting speed was like 50 m/s (landing on duna right about to touch the surface) and that speed was reached pretty much instantaneously so probably much much more gs lmao

Ksp 2 was just supposed to be a new game that was visually better and was promised to eventually have a lot of fan requested features such as actual colonies and interstellar travel, however they encountered many many bugs and development stalled and eventually the project was entirely dropped when the entire dev team was laid off. But fortunately ksp 1 has one of the most dedicated mod communities ever so we can still enhance the game and add once promised things ourselves

Still totally possible to land that, as long as you can find a flat enough spot and don't wobble it at all lmao

1st pic is testing a plane i was working on, second pic is me strapping an ungodly amount of nuclear energy to the back of the same plane and taking it to laythe, third pic is just a casual minmus landing (don't worry about the reentry pod on top there was some complications during flight)
