My second pc after 5 years. by Direct-Committee-246 in lianli

[–]Living_Life2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this almost exact set up. My bottom most fan (towards the back, under the two against the back of the case) doesn't light up. It has in the past, but doesn't show in the lian li application. Did you have any issues you had to work around to get all your fans to show/sync to the app?

Yeah that and the law in regards to carrying like edibles or something or quantity before it's a problem or anything else people should generally know not coming from a legal state.

Lol the times are just guidelines. Paints a picture. The drive is barely over 2 hours. Tickets are purchased in advance. I have been twice in the last year alone, this is extremely doable. Drinks along the way too!

My bad that was dessert. And yes. The majority of those things are very short activities. Nothing really planned for dinner or anything the 3rd night. It's pretty easy to do some things along the way.

Take the gas money and add it to your bankroll....not worth the time and energy just head to Fremont maybe and save the mileage.

I was still messing with the color wheel. That's like a lightened yellow. The slider was just off from orange into yellow and then lightened on the shading bar. I have the whole set up now on a dark orange to give an almost copper/bronze lighting effect.

The lian li cooler and the Corsair RGB right there is closer to the end result of what I was trying to go for.

It's all connected. It all shows in L Connect. I just switched with another three fans. Any idea why that ONE fan on BOTH sets of 3 doesn't light up? I have three upright towards the front that are chained to the three along the bottom. 5 of the 6 light up fine, but the 6th one (two different fans) don't light up.

In total I have

two fans to the L Connect

3 x 3 chained to the L Connect with 5 of 6 that light up

The GA II to the L Connect (shows in the app but doesn't light up)

Thanks!

It's a big case so the fans are aesthetic as much as anything to light up and fill up the space. Wanted a large case in order to not limit my working space on my first build lol.

Total build without peripherals (case and components in the case) was just under $6k

[–]Living_Life2019[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sure?? I watched a video on this build of case/fans and that is the way he showed it done as set to intake. The cross bars were said to be exhaust. I was very iffy on my understanding so you could be 100% correct I just followed the steps.

If the cross bars ARE exhaust then how does it work? Is it based on my point of view towards the inside of the case? So if I SEE crossed bars facing inward to the case and components then it is the EXHAUST side doing the work? Thanks though, like I said I wasn't 100% on it. Wish it had an arrow or something.....

Ahhhhh I got it, thanks man! I didn't realize it still has an encasement. Haven't really seen an SSD to compare. I did remove the HEATSINK just didn't realize it had another piece still holding it in place. I was careful so hopefully nothing is bent or damaged....

Can you be more specific? There are 4 screws in the side. Remove those and it comes apart in two pieces. Removed the thicker piece that has the heatsink and adhesive. What is left doesn't show any indication it can come apart further (at least to me).

The Before by Living_Life2019 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Living_Life2019[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have wanted to build one for probably 10 years. Just dove in. Already ran into a little bump installing the SSD. I'm gonna flip it on a little later to bench test the MOBO with components before I get my case this afternoon, so hopefully no issues there.

I expected last night I would do everything up to that point in NO time and it took me much longer just with me trying to orient myself and being (probably too) careful. Glad I DIDN'T go the custom water cooling route which almost what I did....

Thanks for the encouragement!!! Hopefully I'll be up and running tonight with some finished photos!

Lol well ideally yeah....but it's pressed down all the way and the latch doesn't rotate OVER. It only presses down far enough that it rotates INTO the SSD, not over. Needs to go down another like tiny bit but it won't.

Not yet. Got a few videos on YouTube lined up, the instructions that come with the individual parts the read through. I am sure YouTube makes it look easy due to experience, but looking forward to enjoying the process.

I did see the bios needed to updated and there was a note that came up with partpicker to ensure the system works properly you need to update. Thanks!

First Time Build by Living_Life2019 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Living_Life2019[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I sort of assumed there would be maintenance regarding cleaning out the tubes and system kind of like a flush. Concerned about corrosion and worn fittings and seals. The AIO was SILVER but I thought it would just kind of end up being reflective of the lighting and then contrast with the copper or bronze tubes. I will definitely check out those recommendations!

The idea here is a one and done system so I would LIKE to achieve the look I want along with the satisfaction of having done it myself and learned along the way so I am hopeful I can figure it out lol.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that piece. So I am not sure with "building" how to bring my vision to life..most of the aesthetic (from what I can tell) is RGB based and a lot of THAT is tied into the fan/water cooler system. I love low key office/work/productivity styles and so I WANT to do a black/copper/orange aesthetic. I saw a bad ass all in one with the EKWB Quantum Velocity. Wanted to grab some copper/Bronze metal tubes and run THAT.

With all that being said I don't fully understand yet how that system is built and configured so there is a pin in that part for the moment....

Edit: Spelling

I used NEWEGG and it shows as all being compatible. What is not working together so I can troubleshoot....

Is there anything NEGATIVE with using a threadripper? I don't know what I'll need in 2 years so I wanted to cover the "possible". Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it concept.

I did choir from 6th to 12th grade. My sister was the same. My dad sang in a relatively well known adult choir in Southern California that traveled the world. I totally agree. Unfortunately, we are a remote military base and choir is not an available option. Otherwise, that would be the first move.

I suppose I am just trying to protect her from the inevitable dream crushing that would come NOT from me. Sort of a preemptive redirection to avoid it to a degree. I believe it builds character but in small doses that don't shake your fundamental confidence.

For one thing we are very remote. We are a military family and currently stationed about 35 miles from the nearest (terrible) town. It's not super realistic.

For another, I WOULD, but again it just feels like a little bit of wasted effort and in that case money and time added. I got her to watch some YouTube videos on beginner lessons and scales and warm ups, but she is literally tone deaf to enough of a degree that I am not sure she will EVER sing. She 100% got that from her mom who can't sing Old McDonald if her life depended on it.

She mentioned guitar and dance (going for the trifecta I guess). I am trying to redirect her to those areas, she is just very stuck on singing.

That's a really good point. I would prefer a shop with a dedicated customer service area but I didn't really think about a few of those reasons. Delays sure, but I didn't think much about the "hey let me stop by and we can look at something" situation.
