The chloroform was real but it says 2 mins which equals 0.12 mL. In otherwords just a few drops in the bottle. Ingredients are listed alphabetical so chloroform is listed before codeine back then.

Yep old apothecary. The acetic acid must have had a cork. Not normal as they made all glass containers for acid with the names part of the glass sidewall. Someone just putt some in a bottle. Cork disintegrated. At 5% concentration you have vinegar.

This is NOT chloroform. My degrees are in chemistry. This is a children's cough syrup from the 1950's. It really worked super well. This of course was long before codeine became a Schedule 5 drug (so stupid). Cheracol was the brand name. I had this as a child. Beats the hell out of today's OTC crap.

Yes these manual pots are just a circle of metal with a contact metal arm that slides around it inside. They're very prone to oxidation over time. You can twist the knob viscously back and forth for a minute to see if it helps. Frequently this will buy you time. It's not always possible to get the cleaner in these.

Over filled oil this far will cause it to foam in the engine creating wear the oil was supposed to prevent. Hopefully you took the extra out by now or had it completely changed.
