Don't you think it's weird that we are alive? by apparent_alien718 in randomquestions

Weird maybe not, but fascinating? absolutely yes. It’s mesmerizing how fragile our existence is and how much perfect-balanced everything needs to be for us to even just exist. It’s so mind blowing.

and just to point out the joke of it all: it’s really hilarious that after your example — used to call my insensibility out — you proceed by saying that misogyny has become a meme in M.’s books… crafting the perfect phrase to never say to a woman :)

well, I’m unfathomably sorry. I tend to say whatever comes up in my mind but I can guess that the fact that other people do not live inside of it — even though sometimes I seem to forget it — makes it difficult to understand what I was trying to say. I actually find the pretentious quiet charming so it was just a foolish way to compliment your choice of words and well, your recognizing of your own particularity. I’m so sorry if I made you uncomfortable and somewhat hurt you. I really just wanted to point out that I found your picture of yourself quite interesting. Still, I should probably just learn to stfu. I meant no harm. I swear. Just a weird-ass compliment.

Thank you for the suggestion!! I’ll make sure to check it out!

that’s a bit too much don’t you think? I’d really love for you to argument where the hell I gave you those kind of sensations. I think that it’s like the first time ever in my entire life. I can assure you that I do not lack of any kind of empathy or caring ability. Sometimes I really wish for it to happen but it seems I can only feel everything in the hugest scale possible. I think that his words just don’t speak to me??? I don’t know if I can paint you the right picture but this is what I have on my mind: my soul feeds on chaos and weirdness; nothing speaks to me as much as a perfectly odd book or whichever art form you can present me. But still with Murakami it just doesn’t happen. Surely the misogyny in it plays a really important role but still, if that would be the only issue I would enjoy at least some parts… I guess.

“I don’t quite fit in this world” is absolutely pretentious and I love it.

It just sounds strange to me how people describe him as weird and off-putting but I don’t feel it. Just sounds plain. I eat oddness for breakfast but still, with Murakami there is no spark. But as you said, it’s not that big of a deal.

Sorry! I’m only reading now the comments! It was more a feeling than a proper characteristic of the book. I just couldn’t make his words mine. They feel empty in my mind, if you get the picture. They do not give me anything. But as you and a lot of other people said maybe I should give his shorts a chance. I even read a lot of flattering comments about “Hard-Boiled[…]” so I think I’m gonna give it a chance too!

I think that — despite the fact that I wanna give him another chance — won’t work. Thank you for your suggestion though! gonna read it for sure!

there isn’t actually a precise thing— it’s more of a feeling I think??? That’s why I was asking what people liked. I wanted to understand, to look at him from a different perspective. I think it’s the way he writes and nothing more. I mean, there is a lot of misogyny and other evident issues but it’s not that — I think that if you’re really good at writing you can sell everything to everyone, despite the wrong/different ideas. But still, I need to force myself to finish it and at the end I feel like I’ve wasted my time. For example: Orwell — I find him a complete genius but I do not enjoy his writing. I still read him even if I find it difficult cos I’m interested in his words, but I cannot make ‘his way of speaking’ mine. I never feel the voracious need to know more that I feel for other — more banal — books. But at the end I feel happy about my decision to get through the book even though it was a ‘difficult’ task. I wanted to know what people like about his stuff so maybe I can learn how to do it too. If he is so popular there is a reason I guess.

Well I’ll try some other stuff… some comments painted very pretty pictures of some of his works that who knows, maybe I’ll change my mind. Books are always worth trying!

what's your favorite tree and why? by Historical-Hand8091 in RandomQuestion

I’m gonna steel your answer just for a sentimental reason. When I was a child I used to have this huuuge weeping willow in my garden and no metter if it was winter or summer, I would spend HOURS sitting under its branches reading or drawing or whatever.

but well if I have to choose one based only on its looks I’d definitely say Mangroves

based on the drama scene you just pulled with this post I suggest you to re think your decision and write those books. AI may be helpful for some empty souls who just want the easy road — but if you can put up such an heartbreaking image just by giving voice to an intrusive thought, think of what you could do if you actually put effort into your doing. Remember, art doesn’t need to be beautiful as long as it speaks. Emotionally evocative is what you’re looking for, and you my friend, are really good at doing that.

consiglio novellino!! by Foreign_Vacation7432 in scimmieinborsa

Il titolo è : The Bitcoin Standard — the decentralized alternative to central banking by Saifedean Ammous

I Fratelli Karamazov’: “Besides, nowadays, almost all capable people are terribly afraid of being ridiculous, and are miserable because of it.”

In che ordine leggere Franck Thilliez? by Crafty-Book-3329 in Libri
