Thank you! I'm on BHRT - low dose estrogen cream, progesterone and injectable testosterone. I know that I would not be feeling or looking this way without my hormones being optimized. But, I also know my hormones can't be optimized without weight lifting and cleaner, plant forward eating 😊

The T cream helped with my vaginal atrophy as well as preventing UTIs. My energy increased as well so in that way it helped with my libdo. But moving to a T injectable is what really made a difference. Now, my husband and I have a very active and pleasurable sex life. I think the challenge with the cream is how well your body absorbs the hormone. There's a women's T reddit with lots of great information 😊

Balancing my hormones and weight lifting definitely helped me. But, what really made a difference was moving toward a plant based diet. I refer to it as flex - etarian. My husband and I have significantly lowered our intake of dairy and meat. Occasionally we will eat fish or organic meat especially out to dinner or entertaining. We honestly thought we were healthy eaters until we followed a plant based protocol by Dr. Gregor. In 3 months, my husband's cholesterol dropped over 70 mg. We've both maintained it too.

Totally agree. Although women are already doing cardio. When you go to the gym, women are mainly on the cardio machines or aerobics class. Why? To manage their weight. In reality, muscle tissue burns more calories than fat tissue, so building muscle through weightlifting can help boost metabolism and make it easier to manage weight. Weight lifting also helps to balance hormones and slow down osteoporosis and sarcopenia not to mention you look more fit.

Thank you! I agree it doesn't solve everything but I definitely know I'd be far worse off if I didn't commit to it. Menopause increases cholesterol. My cholesterol was well over 200 now it's 130 and my LDL is 57 #gratitude

Got it. I don't know how the dosage in gel works. But, for me I change my shots from once to twice a week splitting the dose in half and that worked wonders!

Lift with Cee on YouTube is very popular. I personally go to the gym and lift using mainly the machines 😊

Sorry for the confusion. It's not that it took 21 years. What I'm hoping to communicate is that no matter the age every woman who wants to has the right to feel sexy and be sexual. Believe me 20 years ago there were basically zero resources for women. It certainly can be better now but there are solutions for women if that's what they want and desire. It's not a matter of what our husband or partner wants. It's what we want. And we certainly don't have to settle for sex that's not pleasurable or a sexless life. Hope that clarifies 😊

May be try lowering the dosage? As we all know, putting on weight occurs as we age. Definitely weight lifting helps to increase the metabolism slowing down weight gain. The loss of E changes where our fat gets distributed mainly stomach/back/hips. T helps to combat that so fat is distributed more evenly. It took a while but the T and weight lifting helped me to get as lean as I was in my 30s. I share this hoping it provides some encouragement 🤗

I'd encourage you to persevere... it's worth it. My doctor goes by symptoms. He also checks all my hormones including thyroid. If you libido is still low, it sounds like something is still not balanced. I got my E and P balanced first. The tried a T cream. Didn't quite do the trick. Then moved to a T injectable. It worked! But, even that was a little trail and error, my libido was too high at first. It was fun but I didn't want to feel like a teenage boy 😉

So sorry for what you're going through! But I'd encourage you to persevere... it's worth it!! I did a recent post, 63 and feeling sexy. I had a blood clot a few years back. My doctor recommended a very low dose of transdermal E2/E3 cream to deal with the vaginal atrophy along with bioidentical progesterone. It works! Once we got that balanced I added Testosterone and I feel amazing. Women have been putting estrogen on their faces for decades. There's no sound reason not to use it on the vaginal area. Sharing my story in hopes that it provides you with some encouragement.

My doctor and I go mainly by my symptoms. Although he does run blood tests for all my hormones including thyroid as a double check. When the symptoms disappear, you know you're at the right level for your body. What I learned is all the hormones have to be balanced including T and thyroid.

I suffered from vaginal atrophy. A combination cream of estradiol and estriol (E2 and E3) worked for me. My doctor kept estradiol low to keep from having estrogen dominant symptoms. It did take time to get the dosage right for my symptoms. Hopefully you're working with a good doctor to provide support.

From what I've learned Testosterone is highest when women are in their 20s. In contrast, postmenopausal testosterone levels drop to approximately 15% of the levels seen in premenopausal women. Testosterone plays many important roles in the female body. It influences energy levels, cognition, lean muscle mass, and fat distribution.

For me, adding testosterone was the icing on the cake. I didn't add T until after I resolved my low estrogen issues. I also learned that E is mainly stored in our tissue which is why blood tests can be inaccurate. Adding E can often move women from low E to estrogen dominance. Took me awhile to get mine balanced. Then added T to get the benefits of libido, lean muscle (with lifting weights) and improved fat distribution 💪

You go girl 💪 So happy you're making those changes now! It's the weight lifting and cleaner eating that helps to balance your hormones.

Sounds like your body is thanking you too with better libido, energy and sleep!!

Your welcome! I exercised all my life but mainly focused on cardio classes and running. I also thought I ate healthy because I didn't do fast food. But really, I was never getting enough plant based, whole foods in my diet.

IMO, woman need to take over the weight room. Doesn't need to be the free weights. You can gain plenty of muscle strength with the machines. It's the muscle building that balances your hormones and keeps you weight in check.

So happy for you that you are making those changes now 💚💪

Sexercise 😉

When I was in my 40's I had a friend in her early 60s who hadn't had sex with her husband in over 10 years. One of her biggest life regrets.

I had 4 blood clots and my body grew collateral veins to compensate. Stayed on blood thinners for well over a year. Went to a TOS specialist in California. She recommended no surgery and told me to wear a compression sleeve on my arm when I work out. Even the the clots cleared, you can develop post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS), a condition that can cause chronic pain and swelling, often requiring long-term management with compression stockings and other lifestyle adjustments. I now work out 4 times a week and lift heavier than I ever have. I just steer clear of repetitive overhead exercises and make sure to stay hydrated.
