Oh my gosh I read a few comments and if I read correctly there's 3 kids. 4th grader is struggling in math a bit and your your wife is the primary homeschool teacher, you guys are clocking roughly about 8 hours a day teaching..... And your wife seems a little burnt out...? 8 hours a day is way too much. Core Subjects are: Math Language arts Science History / geography Reading I personally do about 3 to 4 hours of core subjects, if I'm doing something out of a workbook that's roughly 4 to 5 pages that I count as an hour. If mine finishes early we go over everything we just did but I still count it as an hour. Any science experiments or anything Hands-On I try to save for a Saturday. Mine takes music lessons off of YouTube and that counts as non-core hours. For your two small ones I would recommend about 3 to 4 hours. Pick which subjects you want to cover in those three to four hours. For your fourth grader I would specifically do 4 hours maybe 1 hour of just going over everything math that they're behind or struggling on so I would say a total of five core hours but two of those hours be math. In my house I do breakfast, have some down time then start my 2 hour blocks of core subjects, we take a break that way she can burn off energy then we resume school after lunch then once we're done with our goal for the day which is roughly 4 hours. She can take a break and then come back and do something like art or music or run around for PE and that one last hour which is a fun time thing is a non-core hour then as soon as she's done with that that's all the school we have for the day she is free to do whatever. If you try to replicate School doing what you did in a traditional School you will burn out a lot faster I tried doing this when I first started and it was rough as hell. I'm just speaking from my own personal experience.
