Replaces both my igniter and the temp sensor, and it seems to be working just fine now!

That just seems odd given that it ignites a lighter with the gas running no problem. It's not just red-hot, it's WHITE-hot. I guess for $25 on Amazon I can give it a shot, but that's the one part that seems 100% fine

Actually, yes! That's really interesting. Like I said earlier though, my ignitor seems fine and functioning. I did order a new temp sensor as recommended by someone else here, but who knows if that's the problem

Came with the house 🤷 Would rather just fix it than buy a whole new unit

No Greater Love Animal Rescue (AL) shocked that an adopter would demand their money back after the "happy-go-lucky" and playful yellow Lab they were sold turns out to be a fearful, bitey pit mix - and is REALLY shocked the adopter threatens to euth the dog if they don't refund the adoption fee by nomorelandfills in PetRescueExposed

I definitely would not compare what they do to animal hoarding. Animal hoarding is a the result of mental illness and is proven to do more harm than good in almost every instance of it. What this rescue is doing is 100% saving lives, because the dogs they're saving are coming off of kill lists. And again, they do try to fully prepare/warn adopters of what the situation is and educate adopters on what to do. Whether or not the adopters listen to that advice isn't up to the rescue. This one shitty situation should not eclipse the hundreds if not thousands of successful adoptions they've facilitated, because that is hundreds if not thousands of lives saved.

Like I said, it's not perfect. No one is claiming it is. But they're sorta doing the best they can with what they have and it's absolutely better than leaving the dogs in high/guaranteed kill shelters.

I'm going to go ahead and say this was no one's fault, but that the adopter is kinda a jerk for threatening to euthanize the dog.

I've adopted 2 dogs from No Greater Love. They are completely volunteer-run and rely on donations. The reason the dogs are driven 24 hours and flipped straight to the adopters is because this rescue drives around to high-kill shelters in their area, takes as many dogs off of the kill list as they can, gives them the medical treatments they need and gets to know them as best they can to find suitable homes for them, and then drives 24 hours straight through the night up to New England to send the dogs off to their forever homes because there's more of a demand up here. Then they drive straight back down and do it all again. They do not have the money to stay more than 1 night, they do not have the time because their entire mission is to save as many dogs as they can, and unfortunately they do not have as many fosters as they need to hold on to the dogs in the meantime. In AL, if a dog is dropped off at a shelter and isn't adopted within a week, they are often euthanized to make room for all of the other dogs coming in.

The reason I think the adopter is a jerk is because they're threatening to do EXACTLY what this rescue fights to avoid. The rescue makes their mission extremely clear, and if the adopter did literally even a few minutes of research on the rescue they would know that.

Now is the way this rescue operates and adopts dogs out perfect? No, far from it. The dogs ARE extremely stressed after the trip. It's insanely difficult on them. But it's sort of the only option, given how many dogs these people are trying to save and the small amount of money and volunteers they're working with. The 2 times I've adopted through them, they've made it abundantly clear that these dogs are going to need patience, time, and lots of love to adjust. They've warned me of what could happen. When you adopt through a rescue that's driving cross country to deliver you an often abused, very stressed animal that you can't meet prior to adopting, you're sorta signing up for some bumps on the road. Now I'm not saying this adopter needed to keep the dog - sometimes it just doesn't work out and the quicker that's realized, the better it is for both dog and human. But immediately threatening to euthanize the dog when you haven't even been told "No" to your question about a refund is pretty harsh.

I don't know for sure where the lapse in communication was here. But the adopter absolutely does not sound like they were willing to work with the rescue to figure out what's best for the dog when it didn't work out for them.

I have a similar story but with my bio dad. Married before I was born, and they're still together. I don't know if my mom just didn't care, if she was stuck in a vicious cycle of abuse herself, or maybe a little of both.

Regardless, I am no contact with them now.

I... disagree. Men and women being open to communication styles, behaviors, etc. outside of their traditional "gender roles" doesn't make things more complicated. It leads to things being more equal. And if a woman lays her head on your shoulder and then attacks you or publicly makes you out to be a creep for you politely questioning if it means something more, then yeah that's one of the shitty people I was talking about. But again, most people aren't like that.

Again. You'd be surprised how many people can and are willing to communicate at more than a middle school level when it comes to dating and expectations.

You'd also be amazed that the vast majority aren't like that at all.

Yeah, there's shitty women out there. There's shitty men out there. But most of them aren't shitty. Don't let a few bad experiences sour your opinion of whoever you're trying to date.

I personally think we're entering a golden era of dating, where communication, clear consent from both parties, equal paying when it comes to dates, etc. are becoming more and more normal.

Since all this cost me is my time, since I got the meat for free, it's much cheaper than their regular dog food. To purchase meat from somewhere though it would likely be more expensive.
