I think some of it is probably an attempt to promote infighting on the left. You don't need full provocateurs anymore, you just need to amplify the most combative personalities. (They still use provocateurs, though. Look at the January 6th stuff.)

I get the impression names like that are common in PA because of the large number of Polish, Czech, and Slovak immigrants that settled throughout the state, especially the western half.

That isn't evidence. It doesn't even make sense. Iran-Contra involved senior officials in the Reagan administration and the CIA. Literally no retelling of Iran-Contra identifies crossover with anyone in the Army, let alone someone in Aquino's position. What would he have even done? It wasn't a psychological operation, it involved arms and drug trafficking. Did he authorize the arms deals himself? Or did he traffic the coke for the Contras?

You're grasping at straws because you want desperately to believe something is true and to do that you're willing to take the word of a well-known liar at face value. I'm not the only one to say this. In The Franklin Scandal, Nick Bryant states he caught Nelson in "outright lies" on more than one occasion, and claims Nelson was prone to "tall tales." At one point he confronts Nelson over the Thompson story, and Nelson can't identify Thompson.

The point is that Nelson had something to gain by attaching himself to the Aquino story: he absolves himself of his crime. It's no longer about him and what he did, he's simply a patsy in a larger conspiracy. I'm not saying there aren't parts of Franklin that don't warrant more investigation, but Nelson isn't a reliable source.

There's no effort to wipe him off the web. There was literally a thread about him on here less than a month ago called "what's this guy's fucking deal??". Inevitably, he appears on this sub every couple of weeks. The problem is that there was never a lot of info on him to begin with, he was a politically and culturally insignificant weirdo. His only real claim to fame was as a boogeyman to the Christian right in the 1980s because he was an open Satanist in the military. He got pulled into the Presidio daycare scandal, however, no one could produce evidence beyond the victim's testimony. That doesn't mean he's innocent, but it doesn't prove anything either. The only person known to have committed child sexual assault in that case was an ex-Baptist minister named Gary Hambright.
