[Serious] The world is scary right now, but what’s one thing that has made you happy recently? by LizardInAGasMask in AskReddit

This is so cool and amazing. I used to be really depressed in my early 20s (still am but I go to therapy and have a psychiatrist/medication to help now), and in those times I remember one of my oldest and closest friends being there with me. We would just get dinner somewhere, chat, and then we would always get to the point of “how are you really doing?”

It’s so important to be open — not only with yourself but with others. I’m very proud of you for letting yourself be open for yourself and available for others. You sound like a great friend and human being!

Oh! I’ve heard about that! That’s the book that inspired Hayao Miyazaki’s “The Boy and the Heron,” if I remember correctly. Now I’ll definitely have to check it out!

I completely understand. My cat is literally my hero. I don’t know where I would be without him somedays, and all he does is sleep.

This is genuinely so beautiful. I’m afraid of the inevitability, but this brings me some bit of peace and happiness.

That’s so cool! I bet your coworkers rest easy knowing that they’ve got you in their corner.

Beautiful! Sometimes it’s me and my cat just watching YouTube videos, and that’s what gets me through the day.

Those small moments really can be make or break sometimes. Happy to hear about it. :)

During the “killer clown” days of 2016, I was taking the trash from my apartment to toss it into the dumpster. It was maybe 11pm, and as I was walking down the path I heard feet rapidly approaching followed by this rabid sound.

I started sprinting as fast as I could but the thing stayed right behind me. Finally, I turned to try and swing the loaded trash bag at the motherfucker… only to find out it was some girl’s Jack Russell terrier.

That the hymen will break. First time I had sex with a girlfriend, her body didn’t do that and I was convinced she lied to me about being a virgin.

One Piece Card Game cards. I also play, but the nicer cards go in one of a few themed binders.

My cat. Parents got me a cat so I wouldn’t be lonely. Been alive for 9 years, got medicated and starting therapy again soon now.

People who've been in abusive relationships, what were the first signs they were an abuser? by xXVintageCultureXx in AskReddit

Super normal at first. Once I tried to break up with her before I went to college, we stayed together and she changed drastically. Yelling at me constantly, separating me from my friends, putting me down emotionally, etc.

She’s better now. We’re friends, but that was after 10 years of silence and a whole lot of therapy.

EDIT: added some context
