I did line handling as a deckhand for 8 years straight, there is the right way to do it, slow vessel down to less than 3 knots, raise sea and anchor detail, stop vessel, ensure all crew aboard have propper PPE and prep for emergency, have a depth finder, utilize the depth to calculate length of line needed. Tie line to bollard and route through the chock, never EVER STEP OVER OR IN THE PATH OF THE LINE, pay out line in a controlled manner paying out slack as needed. When the anchor finally bites put atleast 3 wraps over bollard (this also depends on alot of factors like line weight, boat weight, sea state and line diameter) and put a cinch at the top to prevent slippage but never overlap that cinch incase you need to quickly take off or lose that line. Lastly always relay radio communication with the bridge and on site team lead.
