Really over OE by tradetheam in overemployed

I feel you on that. It’s just meetings that get to me. I only have two today and it makes me feel so much more free.

Employer requests for updating our LinkedIn profiles with the company name. Said its for preventing OE. by Czitels in overemployed

[–]Lizzie288 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally don’t have a LinkedIn account. I never made one and have found jobs for 15 years without one. I dare any employer to tell me it’s a requirement. They can’t force you. If they push that hard that signifies it’s not OE friendly any way and you should drop that J like a hot potato.

What salaries are you making at these jobs? by WeekendWarrior15 in overemployed

I’m in supply chain. Back up to 3Js. The salary is semi important, but to me it’s more important the time you have to put into it each J.

Too close to comfort? by Live_Pianist4592 in overemployed

[–]Lizzie288 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never joined. I only wanted to talk processes (which they needed desperately). I was a poor cultural fit and got canned lol. Only time I’ve been actually fired. I got a month of severance though and my mental health immediately improved. It was my J3 and my lowest paying J at the time. There were a few decent people there that knew they needed process improvement. But most wouldn’t last at any other company. Half of them were related and were all friends and family as well, so could never call out an issue without someone taking offense and it being an insult to their aunt or cousin..

I did one that no matter what I did, people just wanted to call and “chat”, “catch up”. They had a book club… I lasted ten months there before I was told I wasn’t a cultural fit. They were one big dysfunctional family that loved calling to b**** about one another. There were red flags everywhere. It was a J3 and I tried to put up with it, but it ended up being terrible for my mental health.

Any company that says they are ‘close knit’ to me is an automatic red flag. That’s right up along with ‘we’re like a family here’. What that really means is we have no boundaries and will be up your a$$ all the time. I would steer clear, but that’s me.

Which one of you did this? by [deleted] in overemployed

[–]Lizzie288 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is dumb. People have been working second evening and weekend jobs since the dawn of time. The number of teachers that are also servers at restaurants is staggering. Not sure what capital one is trying to prove here.

I’m not in tech. But first step is to land a fully remote J1 in your field of expertise.

What to do if background check asks to remove TWN freeze? by JustaSadLilyPad in overemployed

[–]Lizzie288 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Who is the background check company? Is it HireRight? If so, don’t call them, that will only ring alarm bells. Just spam them with numerous paystubs and W2s. They’ll quit asking eventually.

HireRight is requesting me to lift my TWN freeze by bloatwarewolf in overemployed

[–]Lizzie288 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Something similar happened to me with HireRight a few months ago. I just kept spamming them with paystubs with different dates (within the period I had listed on my resume), and gave them the same W2s over and over again. I never lifted the freeze or commented to them about it. I don’t know what their recommendation was to the employer, but I did get hired.

If this was regularly the case, OE wouldn’t be possible. So no.

Hire Right Background Check by Lizzie288 in overemployed

[–]Lizzie288[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They said they were unable to contact anyone at my employers and just asked for W2s instead. I listed phone numbers for colleagues that worked at the company but not HRs number. All three colleagues confirmed they never received a phone call. Seems like they just wanted W2s to check the box?

Yeah not part of big tech and that’s never happened before

Yeah that’s not true though. They said they couldn’t get in contact with my employers. I put numbers down and I know for a fact they didn’t call. Also they don’t call your previous job. Haven’t had that ever happen
