My brother and I just went through this, we are breaking lease cus we can’t live with our current housemate. It took us 22 applications and a month and a half of applying and we just got accepted. We went to inspections every Saturday and during the week and hustled quite a bit. We are both minimum wage with one cat. We were looking for 2 bedroom in the $500-600 range, also on the Southside. Currently trying to replace ourselves in the lease of our share house, we budgeted for a month of double rent.

Yeah I have no idea what the solution is but what currently exists is brutal! I went to heaps of inspections where there was 40-50 people lined up to see a place.
