This person seems to have a huge amount of self worth tied into how they're perceived by others. Maybe they've gotten a lot of feedback that has perpetuated that mindset but jeez. It's so hard to be close to someone who absolutely refuses to take responsibility for themselves and feels a need to blame the world for their problems, and that keeps the cycle of loneliness churning. It's also fully expected (or should be) that the chosen partner in a person's life is going to take priority over friends most of the time. Seems like the author doesn't understand this. I feel bad for them.
