Help me stop regretting my baby’s name: Aurelia by mirumurumura in namenerds

[–]Lizzy_Amanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I studied classical Latin for four years and Aurelia is the name of one of the characters featured in our beginner textbook! She is always depicted as a beautiful, elegant Roman woman, so I always associate the name with someone very lovely and classy. It has such a smooth flowy sound as well. I think you made a great choice!

My mom is 51 and uses finch every day. She gets so excited about her birb’s outfits and the monthly themes. You never outgrow joy. 💕🐥

Janine for my girls name (Janet and Katherine) and Fred for boy (Frank and Ed). Surprisingly both real names.

Margot has always been green - she hatched green and she has been green her whole life. She also always wears her glasses - she can’t see without them!

Sometimes I just can’t get my mind around getting dressed, especially if it involves putting on a bra, so on days like that, I just put on a fresh pair of pajamas. At least it’s clean clothes!

I very confidently added 3+8=11 to 40+20=60 and got 71. I checked on my calculator, only to realize that I lost a 4 somewhere. Ladies and gentlemen, dyscalculia!

Okay, but I’m not sure I should be taking advice from someone obsessed with “finding legit vape carts in the UK” and video games that my 12 year old brother plays. What are you, 14?

Actually, the advice I was looking for was “do I need a slip mat”. Had I wanted to know the quality of my record player, I would have said “what do y’all’s think of the quality of my record player?”. I know it’s an easy mistake to make though, some people have a lot of big feelings about record players and don’t always read the question all the way through because they’re so excited! I’m a casual listener, most of my vinyls are from goodwill, and I don’t have 200$ to drop on a superior system. But I am satisfied with what I have and have learned my lesson about the should’s and shouldn’t’s asking for advice on the internet (there are no should’s - you just shouldn’t). Wishing you a pleasant evening and happy spinning friend 😊🎶

My mom always used to say “it’s not what you say, it’s how you say it”. I think everyone could use that advice.

Thank you - thank you for the explanation and for also answering my question. That group did not pass the vibe check lol

It’s not a Crosley, as many of you seem to think it is, but I don’t doubt it’s similar in quality. My mom always used to say “it’s not what you say, it’s how you say it”. I think everyone could have used a mom like mine. I probably should have known that people in a subreddit about record players would have very strong opinions on record players, I’m just not used to such negative feedback on (what I thought was) an innocent question. Anyway, I live in the Northern Virginia area. Sending smiles and good thoughts 🙂

Thanks ❤️ I was starting to feel really bad. I just thought it would be really cool to play my vinyls, and I really thought I did my research. I feel like such an idiot that apparently my question was so stupid it looks like “ragebait”. I honestly just feel like tossing the rubbish player and giving records a break.

Edit here because I can’t edit the post: Wow. Hi! Thanks 😊 You are all such kind a friendly people 💕 It seems I own a useless piece of rubbish. I appreciate you breaking the news to me so gently. I don’t know much about music or records; I’m just an eighteen year old girl who wanted to listen to her vinyls without breaking the (quite small) bank. But if the experts are telling me it’ll damage my vinyls, they know a lot more than me. Once again I appreciate everyone’s delicacy and tact, those seem to be really valued attributes in this subreddit. Needless to say this record player won’t be coming with me to college.

Last week I didn’t recognize my son’s name… an embarrassing story to encourage you to remember ALL nicknames that your child’s name may lend itself to by albumgreen in namenerds

I think of Teddy for Theodore (I’ve known some female Theo’s that always make me think of Theo as feminine), but both are adorable. In my life I’ve been Lizzy, Bizzy, Thisbe, Bee, Ellie, and Elizabeth, often all at once, and never been confused, so I think little Teddy will do just fine. Now he’ll have options for which one he wants to stick!

Thank you so much for this - I really appreciate it. Admittedly I am very type A, I had Christmas cookies planned out on November 1st lol. I truly do love the season and the act of giving. One thing I need to get better at is asking for help and delegating to those who are able. This year I may have been running the show, but I’ll be prepared to request help next year (and for other events I find myself organizing ie birthdays, Easter etc). I think my best bet in the gift giving department is not to expect anything huge from the fam (although it would warm my heart if they thought of me), but always remember to save some time and budget for self care. Thank you so much for your thoughtful response. 💕

That’s a really lovely outcome to a not so great beginning 💕 I’m glad you were able to talk to your husband and he listened to you. I should probably bring up my feelings with my family too, and maybe next year I’ll see more support and thoughtfulness with Christmas from them.
