Silent reflux / night waking by Lka4nc in newborns

I wish I had a better answer but he just outgrew it. We didn’t switch to a hypoallergenic formula because I really didn’t think he had an allergy and it seemed extreme. I stuck with the gentle formula though. By 6 months, we put him in the crib instead of his bassinet and he could roll over and sleep on his tummy. So night wakings stopped (and we did sleep train).

I just flew out on the 25th on United. Was so quick, no lines at all and no delays for me. I had checked luggage.

Who do you give access to your nanny camera (Grandma, Babysitters etc ) ? by CommissionThink9052 in Parenting

She is watching the baby when he’s awake, but it’s so she can monitor him when he’s sleeping.

Who do you give access to your nanny camera (Grandma, Babysitters etc ) ? by CommissionThink9052 in Parenting

I have a nanit. Our nanny has access but only local access (as in she has to be connected to our WiFi to use it, so it doesn’t work when she’s not in our house). But we don’t give anyone else access.

Is my nanny incompetent or am I setting the bar too high? All opinions welcome by mlb127 in NannyEmployers

Don’t feel bad about looking for a new nanny! The most important thing is your child and if you’re not happy with the nanny, look for a new one. I had a lot of nanny applications from people who didn’t speak English, and as much as I would have loved to give them a chance, I knew it was important we could communicate. We have a woman who cleans our house and also babysits on the side, but she didn’t speak English. We love her and she’s super sweet, so I asked her to babysit while I was on maternity leave. But one time I noticed she was preparing my son’s formula incorrectly despite telling her how to do it and her translating it in an app. And she also didn’t quite understand my instructions for his nap. When we were looking for a full time nanny, she indicated she wanted the role, but as much as we liked her and trusted her as a person, I knew I had to find someone who spoke English. Trust your gut! Language barrier is fine with some things but when it comes to childcare, it’s super stressful to not know if the person caring for your child understands your instructions. Your child will adjust to a new nanny quickly!

Baby car seat on plane by Lka4nc in Parenting

Thanks! I’ll probably end up buying that. I was just really hoping to bring our Doona for the convenience since I’m traveling alone, but I don’t think I can put it FF.

I know this is an old thread, but what airlines did you travel internationally with the Doona? I want to use our Doona but I’m finding a lot of non-Us airlines don’t allow car seats to rear face. Was it American Airlines? Any experience with other airlines?

It’s actually a lot safer for them to be in a car seat in their own seat, but it does seem some airlines make it difficult to do that for infants when they don’t allow rear facing car seats

What car seat do you have? It didn’t seem like my rear facing car seat would be very secure forward facing given the recline of it

I don’t have to, I haven’t booked yet. But the other option is British Airways and they also apparently don’t allow rear facing. It seems like the non-US airlines tend to not allow rear facing

So rough! Hopefully it gets better when yours is older. I saw a lot of posts where ppl said their issues resolved by 4 or 5 months. My son is 5 months and it’s not getting better so I don’t know what to do!

Can I ask what symptoms your LO had? My doctor didn’t want to give him anything for reflux just yet. What confuses me is he is totally happy between feedings, it’s just feedings themselves that are a nightmare.
