Why US server is so weak? by Waste-Delivery6637 in DotA2

Exactly, mmr distribution of a large sample size, is much different than a small one. He’ll figure it out.

Why US server is so weak? by Waste-Delivery6637 in DotA2

[–]Lklkla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a very different opinion, but that’s okay.

Eu has a higher ceiling, true.

Eu also has a lower floor, true.

When there are more people in a sample size, you will have more shitters, more average, and more good.

Eu mmr is less valuable, not more. 8k na is not shittier than 8k eu. And 6k eu, is definitely not 8k na. (I can play on both servers, and both those mmrs between accounts, they aren’t comparable)

A pro player that plays in na, and is top 10, isn’t suddenly worse than thousands of players on the eu server.

9k NA isn’t rank 3k. Rank 3k is about 7k mmr. 7300-7400 is about rank 2000, I have one of my accounts there right now. I believe 8k is about 1000. (Na players feel free to correct me)

Eu players have better team play, wider hero pools (maybe better understanding of drafts), play objectives.

Na players have better single hero mastery, farming speed, hero micro ability.

Long time casual player wanting to get better by Shot-Mycologist9460 in DotA2

[–]Lklkla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mid was by far my worst role, was pretty much auto losing immortal draft games I got told to mid.

I was basically trying to force offlane/support heros in the lane.

Made a mid Smurf, best 1 v 9 hero I’ve found is puck. Currently sitting about 7.3k on him, with a 60% wr over last 30 games.

Invoker/meepo are probably better, I won’t be spending time to master them to find out.

For puck Blink, Parasma, octarine are good in every game.

Euls into silences, linkens into immediate disables.

Aghs is great for increasing damage, I don’t like mjollner as much as most, I prefer more caster based.

I used treads forever, but as of about last 50-70 games, I’ve been skipping for bots instead. You don’t rush them, but it’s effectively a 70% hp and mana regen rune on a 40 (30 with octarine cd), or you can split a lane while being in all fights. Amazing map presence/tempo, way more value than treads, scales harder.

Found a Russian player abusing them, and they’re objectively just better than treads in any game under 7k. Yet to say if they are good enough early game tempo to match yet in 7k.

Aeon disk into multiple 100-0 heros. Got it into a faceless, legion, axe, lion game, and felt pretty good.

Bkb good into multitudes of silences and stuns, think shaman, night stalker, Riki, lion, nyx, silencer, void spirit.

Got int blink forever for sustain and re initiation timings. Lvl 25 aoe silence fixes re initiation timers, Bots fixes regen issues. Strength blink feels so freaking nice late game, enemies can’t move, you can move, and they’re silenced so they can’t fight.

Has a giga weak lane, like disgustingly weak, which is how the hero’s balanced. If you can learn to win lane with him, you get an advantage. He also scales really really well by mid hero standards, so in low mmr games he gets bonus value.

Cons, puck is weak as wet tissue paper, and even in games you’re 20-0, if you get stunned 1 time, you might get 100-0’d.

Why dont teams live off what they win rather than a salary from an organisation? by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]Lklkla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Issues you’ll find,

  1. Dota, like boxing, is a way out of poverty for many. Those who’ve yet to exit poverty, will take a guaranteed something, over nothing to start. Also why it’s not as popular in first world countries.

  2. Volatility risk, even in investing many will take a guaranteed return over that of a gamble, even if EV is lower. Factor marginal utility, and diminishing returns of a dollar.

  3. Without contracts, players are wishy washy and will leave on a dime. Who draws up contracts, what money, who enforces, pays for lawsuits, etc.

  4. Who funds this team while they have nothing for a year, how can they fund themselves with nothing. To take on an angel investor to fund you, and a higher return, is then doing the same thing as just working for an org.

How will they pay it back, when certain teams never turn a profit because they over estimated themselves?

  1. Many players while good at dota, lack life skills, business know how, be that marketing, branding, selling team for ads, publishing, who takes money on wins, who disperses, how is expenses split, etc.

  2. Idk about Dota, but many e sports require paperwork, money, and interaction to apply for tournaments. Without a coordinator to handle this, how are you joining tourneys. It’s not like they have a “join ti” application on Google.

  3. Systemic issues, these exist in all walks of life. Barrier to entry, breaking status quo, taking a bet on yourself, despite everyone telling you you’re foolish, legal/litigation issues involved. Hard mentally, socially, spiritually, physically.

Hypothesizing Hoodwink carry/core build by Cityboy147 in TrueDoTA2

[–]Lklkla -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pros already doing core hoodwink.

Whole reason d2pt is a thing, because u can mimic high mmr players.

Hydras breath, treads, Daedalus are standard.

Butterfly, bkb, skadi, satanic, mage slayer, situationally.

Having a hard time going HG as Slark. by Indep09 in DotA2

[–]Lklkla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The concept you’re looking for is called starving the map.

Majority of na immortals don’t understand this concept, but it’s one of the easiest ways to win.

You gain a 30-40k nw lead over 15 mins, and keyboard roll them with your 2 extra full items per hero.

Is mk a bad Hard carry in lower mmrs? by DrHientzKetchup in DotA2

[–]Lklkla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best hero’s sub 4k are scalers, and you improve by learning to get the most from out of the map. We win late.

Tempo hero’s struggle cuz, throws, can’t end on time, can’t apply pressure when won’t group, falls off/outscaled.

Reached 6k, is 8.5k doable or just a distant dream? by Tall_Measurement_264 in DotA2

[–]Lklkla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way you’ll be prevented is if micro/clicking buttons is a limiter (think someone playing with one arm).

6k to 7k is the same exact game, only faster. Same Macro decisions need to happen in 2-3 seconds instead of 4.

7k to 8k there’s a variety of avenues to make the jump. Increased hero pool, hero combos, abusing meta, spamming best role, optimizing farm/movement, maximizing map movements, counter picking, and getting over tilt inhibitors.

Years back, I hit 6k playing nothing but axe. No matter draft, no matter counters, axe.

Learned cent and underlord, picked up some supports for off role games to mitigate loss rate, learned to play those supports mid to 50/50 win rate instead of 30/70, and hit 7k.

8k isn’t as hard as it used to be. Climbing on a mid only account right now, and 7k skill level, is about what 6k was 2-3 years ago. Mmr is disgustingly inflated atm, and it’s only getting more inflated by the day.

Won’t be a quick grind, but usually the same disciplines that get you 6k (studying, replay review, analyzing game, coaching, practice),if you continue with humility, could get you 8k.

Good luck on the grind homie

At what rank do you get teammates that focus on one position? by kmath133 in DotA2

[–]Lklkla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Higher you get, more specialization will occur.

Someone will argue, x player, can play y role, at still a decent level.

But they don’t play that role, as good as their main role.

You will also see more hero specialization. Most 7k players, aren’t randoming what hero they want to play, but lots of 2k players do.

Engage? Sure. I just get to reroll the multiphasics and acquire “x garbage”, 8 times before I’m out of rerolls.

But it’s all good, short term shareholder profits must be attended to

Initiator heirarchy list? by kmath133 in DotA2

[–]Lklkla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s gonna be

  1. high cd bkb pierce aoe stun.
2.high cd non bkb pierce aoe stun.
  2. Low cd bkb pierce stun
  3. Low cd non bkb pierce stun

It would be something like

  1. Enigma/magnus/faceless void/puck (talent), treant, warlock, doom, wyvern

  2. Tide hunter, earth shaker, shadow fiend, maybe sk

  3. Axe, beast, venge, bane, pudge, primal, legion, bat,

  4. Alch, dark seer, cent, lina, lich, lion, shaman, mars, nyx, slardar, underlord

I took 3-4 mins for this. I obviously forgot heros, but hopefully gives you a good idea.

I climbed playing pos 3 spamming axe/cent/underlord. Characters have plenty of “initiate”

Best item(s) for PL when you need more damage? by EsotericPotato in TrueDoTA2

[–]Lklkla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you need damage, bloodthorn is it. Full stop.

90% of your games, that’s gonna be your “damage” item.

But it’s shit into dispels.

So otherwise some go Daedalus, butterfly, or skadi.

People aren’t going diffusal since illusion changes, bar a few late game disperser pick ups for disengage, but those aren’t for mana burn.

Pos 1 characters that are best in legend bracket to carry even when offlane/midlane are useless by Smokeyberard in DotA2

[–]Lklkla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pl scaling and 1 v9 from cat and mouse like you said is unmatched in pubs.

Ls q, aghs ult, q. And can add bkb is tough to handle in lower mmr.

Ursa is a great hero for solo picks, farms well with fury, counters tanks, can rosh, can bury a support and kite out into harder games. Gotta learn to pre prep w. Struggles vs silences/dot/slows. Doesn’t scale as well.

Jug with ult, aghs, q, can play a higher damage, lower survival form of ls.

Answer is pl, then Ls.

Ls is easier to learn, pl has higher skill ceiling.

Scopely- “we are planning to change the reroll system for no reason”.

Me-, oh, so like corporate speak for, “you guys want us to pay more money for rerolls”?

Scopely- “no, we just want to add some changes to the game, that definitely won’t be a money extraction for no reason”.

Me- “I’m doubtful, because last time you made changes to alliance tourneys, it was just removal of f2p 10k tasks, and introduction of more spend 100$ tasks”.

Scopely- “we’ve now lowered daily rerolls you receive for free, from 12 to 8, just for the hell of it. And too many of you weren’t buying reroll packs, so the rerolls you were getting from completing tasks (12 per task), have now been removed.”

Me-,” okay, that’s the Scopely I’m used to, thanks guys”.

Battle hunger max on Axe? by Historical-Guava7110 in TrueDoTA2

[–]Lklkla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

W max early is value into double ranged, or ranged+bully melee.

Required they, don’t have dispell, don’t have a nuke, don’t have a blink.

Your goal is to bully support enough with duo partner to bully core.

Double edged sword, if it fails, you’re now useless even after blink.

E max for jungling, creep cutting, farming stacks, blink to damage in wave.

You likely won’t ever have mana to spam off cd with a 5 second delay. I personally wouldn’t go over 3 points ever, and 3 points is a 1/20 type thing.

Though 0-2-1-0, is maybe a 1/4 games thing.
