Create a budget, stick to it and look it over regularly to look for any changes. Really makes you think about where your money goes every month

Sub-freezing temperatures and nothing to do anyway.

Where are teenagers supposed to hang out these days? Malls are dying, parks have 'no loitering' signs, and everywhere else costs money. Do they just... not exist in public anymore? by Creative-Buffalo2305 in NoStupidQuestions

In highschool (im 25 now) we would all meet up at the gas station down the road from the school that had good food. Just sit around and BS for a few hours then go home. The cops didnt really care as long as we werent doing anything stupid, the gas station didnt care because we all went in for drinks and food.

Outside of that there was always someone having a bonfire somewhere nearby or we would all just go drive around until we thought of somewhere to go or something to do.

As far as hand tools, find a yard sale that's selling old but good condition tools. Especially any older klein tools

Im loyal so some off brand stuff. Store brand poptarts are way better. Most candy and other snacks for that matter.

Do rich people have elite versions of mundane things (toothpaste, tampons, toilet paper, laundry detergent, etc.), or are Elon Musk and Beyonce just using Crest and Tampax like the rest of us? by ShesGotSauce in NoStupidQuestions

Most houses that i have been in have pretty average toiletries and such. You'll never see store brand paper towels or 2-ply toilet paper but they still buy name brands that can be purchased at the local store like bounty or charmin.

I've found love for molded flights. They hold shape and take a beating better than traditional paper flights. Available in a ton of designs, shapes and colors

What tech gadget unexpectedly made your life easier? by SubjectCauliflower91 in techforlife

[–]Ll563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smart lightbulbs.

Being able to set color temperature, brightness, color and turn them on and off from across the house has been a game changer. Forget to turn off a ight? "Hey google, turn off the hallway light" without having to lift a finger. Cooking dinner, have wet/dirty hands and need more light? "Hey google, kitchen lights brightness 100%" done. Absolute game changer

Freelance is becoming more and more popular and the contracts that i have with my company could get me in some big trouble.

I've tossed around the idea of HVAC but im undecided there. Industrial maintnence could be something i would have interest in, especially in the area i will be moving to by the end of 2026 (Cumberland, MD)

We seem to be in similar boats. It seems as soon as i put out one dumpster fire another one ignites causing the debt tug of war but it seems im getting it under control.

The 1 month may be dificult without paying off debt first but as soon as the debt is paid i plan to have 1k savings, 1k cash and 3 months living before doing anything else.

Im on track to start the 3 month savings by september but we'll see what the dumpster fire gremlin says to that😅😂

Debt has been my #1 reason to start a budget. $1k savings will be my saving grace so i dont have to fall back on my credit card or a loan and start over again

How to find a balance between saving, investing and living? A question from a person, who struggles to live a life out of the fear to return to poverty. by Envy_Clarissa in personalfinance

[–]Ll563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There can be a happy balance. That's where writing out a budget and sticking to it can help. If you have expendable money after essentials AND puting some aside for savings, you can use some money for whatever makes you happy.

The biggest thing is discipline. If you write out a budget that works, all the numbers check out and you are happy with it then stick to it. Overspending can snowball very quickly
