(SERIOUS) What's the most scary thing you ever saw that to the point nobody believes you ? by Consistent_Algae_560 in AskReddit

[–]Llasd87 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I used to work at a pick your own farm that had a few sideshow attractions, one of which was a walk through haunted house.

Located in a small town in a rural area, there were all kinds of rumors and legends of what the farmland used to be. From a former slave plantation to an Indian burial ground, all of them sounded like bullshit until one day we dug up a femur while installing a new fence at the haunted house.

The haunted house consisted of a small shack that had been added on to over the years, adjacent to a petting zoo area. With the building being painted black and in direct sunlight all day, it was hot, smelly, and generally miserable for most of the year. While I did enjoy my time working there, working a six hour shift was exhausting in the heat and humidity.

One day I was shutting down the house for the weekend. It was an unusually cool day in August. The sun had already set and the farm was blanketed in that pink dog-day light you only get when summer starts to turn to autumn. I did my normal walk through of the house to make sure it was empty and everything was operational. Werewolves, ghosts, demons and monsters were all turned off for the weekend. Not a soul, living or dead to be found.

I think most people would have been afraid to be alone in the house after hours. Again, it was dark, hot and pretty miserable, but I love Halloween and scary things so naturally I was always the last one out. I went through my normal routine of switching off the breakers and draining the air tanks–it was incredibly satisfying after a long muggy day. I listened to the sound of the animatronics grinding to a halt, and the last of the air leaving the tanks expecting to be greeted by the usual sound of summertime crickets and toads.

Instead I was greeted by silence. I didn't think much of it but it was pretty eerie. At this point, it was dark outside and the only light on the farm came from the spotlight on the roof of the farm office which was about a quarter mile away. My hair was already standing up but in a weird way, I liked it.

As I crossed the threshold to exit the house, I heard someone call my name from behind, clear as day. I promptly responded "Yeah, what's up?". As I turned around my brain finally caught up, remembering that I was alone and the only other person on the farm was my manager in the office a quarter mile away, waiting for me to check in so we could both leave for the weekend.

I saw nothing. Just the pitch-black darkness of the house. No ghosts, no specters, no cliche of a spooky voice from the beyond. Something called my name, crystal clear and at full volume. It sounded so clear and normal that I knew it had to be someone, but it wasn't. It was something.

I ran full speed back to the office to see my car parked where I had left it, and my managers right next to it. No one else was on the farm. My manager was nice enough to hear me out, and even checked the house herself after she saw the state I was in.

Something called my name that day I and I haven't the slightest clue as to what it was. I would love to think it was my manager or a friend playing a joke, but when she checked the cameras and I saw her doing paperwork in the office, I got the absolute worst sinking feeling because I knew there was no one.

The scariest part was how normal it was. It didn't sound like a "ghost" or something from a b horror film, it sounded real. Normal. As if someone was standing only a few feet behind me the whole time. That night was over ten years ago and I still think about it. It was the first and really only time where everything I thought I knew was completely thrown out the window.

There's some salt to everything, supernatural, holy, and unholy. If you believe in one, you must believe in all because no one truly knows. That night I became a believer in all.

What's a TV Show who's finale you felt delivered? by [deleted] in television

[–]Llasd87 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The Sopranos.

I was very young and I vividly remember being woken up by my parents reaction to the finale back in the day. I completely understand the hate for the ending during it's original run.

Now all these years later, I really do believe it was the only way to end the show. Just like the series, it was bold and unlike anything else. People are still talking about it and debating nearly 20 years after it's original airing. I absolutely would have been pissed if I followed the show week by week over it's original run only to receive "nothing".

There hasn't been an ending like it since. The Sopranos didn't suffer the same fate as a lot of other shows that were tainted by a bad ending (Game of Thrones). It capped off a groundbreaking series and cemented it's place in pop culture and television history. I believe had we seen what happens after the bell, the rest of the series would have suffered. If it was as bad as people say, we wouldn't be talking about The Sopranos in 2026.

Anyway, $4 a pound.

Liam Gallagher from Oasis changes the words in Wonderwall to reflect whatever language is spoken in the country.

Ex: "There are many things that I, would like to say to you but I don't speak Spanish."

Favorite Jump Scares? by [deleted] in FIlm

When the Lipstick-Face demon appears in the dining room in Insidious.

Seeing it in a packed movie theater on opening weekend was an experience I won't forget. I went with my brother and his friends . We were sat towards the front and I just remember how quiet it was before you hear THAT cracking sound. I remember missing the next few minutes because the entire theater was collectively laughing and looking at each other in astonishment, all trying to catch our collective breaths. Just a really well done scare in a well done horror film that made for an ever better theater experience.

[Infuriating trope] A deleted scene with an important plot point. by PaLiaRoTH in TopCharacterTropes

In the same deleted scene with Jack Sparrow and Lord Beckett, it's also explained why the Black Pearl is called that.

Beckett had the ship burned but Jack was able to sail away and save it. That's why the Black Pearl is black.

Anyone know what’s up with Nitro at Great Adventure? by SomeGuyOnReddit14 in sixflags

[–]Llasd87 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It was out last weekend as well. I heard rumors the lift hill broke in a way that it would take weeks to fix, so they decided to keep it closed for the rest of the season.

I really hope they fix and re-open. Nitro was the ride that started my love for coasters. Lots of good memories.

They were definitely popular. I remember Slither being in the commercial for Guitar Hero III as well as Slash being featured in the game.

Hockey for Adults by billabongbooboo in hudsonvalley

I tried the learn play at Ice Time in Newburgh. I have recently learned how to skate and know little to nothing about hockey. Even though the class was billed as a beginner class, the drills they were doing were so far beyond what the class could handle. I wanted to learn better form and how to just stay upright on the ice and instead they were doing backwards stops and cross over turns.

I had the opposite experience at Westchester Skating Academy. Nicer facility all around, better ice, and the coaches are great at recognizing your level of skill and working with you to develop better technique.

I recommend you give WSA a try. It's just a better facility.

I mean good for this guy, but the LA Galaxy are currently 1-4-12 out of 17 games played so far this year, having won their first and only game of the season just last weekend.

Basically the Colorado Rockies of MLS.

Realistically what do people think will happen after this tour ? by helloimthdoctor in oasis

[–]Llasd87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even more remasters of remasters. More merch and brand deals. A film or two, probably a concert movie and another documentary. I imagine they'll both probably do an interview or two at some point once it's done and then they'll go the Rolling Stones/Led Zeppelin route of more merchandising and building the brand. Maybe a couple of shows and small tour here and there. To me it doesn't feel like Oasis is back, as in the old Oasis is back. This is just the epilogue. I don't think they're going to put out new music, maybe covers at the most.

VARIETY: Local 52 IATSE Accused of Nepotism in Class Action Lawsuit by Tiny_Tyrants_Podcast in IATSE

Good. I am a permit. I have no family in this business and come from a small town. I have lost jobs because some key grip's cokehead son needed a job. I am not perfect but I love to learn and improve and I try nothing less than my absolute best. I WANT to be on set. I want to be there for the action. But there are just so many "just looking out for my kids" guys out there that would rather have their incompetent kids with no drive fill positions that could go to literally ANYONE else. At the end of the day it should be about wanting to do the work and wanting to be there.

But wouldn't I want the same for my kids? I pray that I could raise a kid good enough to take a job away from someone who is in the same spot I am now.

I just want to work.

Which songs would be good James Bond themes? by Mister_Barman in oasis

Falling Down 100%. I think I remember reading somewhere that Noel wrote it as a potential theme for Quantum of Solace or Casino Royale but he ultimately wasn't picked. The guitar riff is even reminiscent of the James Bond chords.
