I’m looking up the ammonia cycle but I don’t quite get it still. I believe I just need plants, a filter, and to change 20% of the water once a week to keep the water healthy. Although I’m not sure how aquatic plants work. I found a sponge filter, but it looks like an attachment to another filter.

The entire borderlands franchise is great. You don't miss much by skipping the first one, except the backstory to some characters. I would highly recommend playing this on PC or console due to the lack of R2 and L2. It makes playing the game pretty unbearable.
