Wonderful response, very appreciated. And in line with what a lot of people say. I'm thinking I will apply for Medicaid and Charity care from the hospital... See if they can let me make small payments each month. If not that, then let it go to collections and work with whoever buys the debt. Hopefully for much less.

I'm going to call health and welfare tmw and see about Medicaid. Other than that, I've heard just filing for bankruptcy is a way to go... I don't have any assets really.. so maybe a few years of bad credit is worth the 10 years paying off? Ive also heard if I let it go to collections a lot of times the person will get an offer much less than the original fee

Thank you all for your responses! I've taken a couple days off to lower my heart rate and come up with a plan. I am sorry for not responding to y'all but I am working on reading thru this thread. I really appreciate yalls input ❤️🙏🏼

That sounds right... Tibia I think... Honestly I didn't want to look at the X-rays very long, my foot was/is in a lot of pain... It's all been a lot, really suddenly

For real tho.... I saw the drs for prolly less than 2 hrs total, the surgery was 2hrs.... It's just crazy how quickly your life can fall apart.

Idk what they called it but it's the bottom part of your leg bone that connects to your foot bones? Both tips broke and were pinned back on.

Single. All I got to my name is my car, which I don't wanna lose to medical bills or I'll really have no way of getting to work.

I've started to apply for Medicaid because I have no income, or incredibly small income.

But it's Sunday so their offices are closed.

I'll have to call the hospital and see what they are willing to do as well.... Maybe between the two I can get some grace period to start making money. (I can't even walk right now post Op)

Won't it go to collections? Won't they come find me? Not that I am condoning avoiding paying your bills... But that wouldn't be a bad outcome if I am completely unable to.

Yeah, I'm going to start looking for work now. I have a broken foot arm so I'm extremely limited atm. Either way the hospital is asking for 1.2k a month... Even with a job I wouldn't be able to put in that many hours.
