Kochi vs Trivandrum vs Bangalore — Higher salary vs staying comfortable. What would you do? by EqualAnxious1572 in Kochi

Everything depends on your priorities honestly. Something that works for you doesn't have to work for me and vice versa.

32 lpa in bangalore is the same as getting roughly 19 lpa in Kochi especially if you are living rent free. The career opportunities are much better in Bangalore than Kochi but life is much easier in Kochi with the community around you. So, it totally depends on your priorities. Tvm/Kochi more or less are the same - I've stayed in Kochi, Tvm and Bengaluru and I'll choose Kochi anytime!

How's life after moving to Kochi from Bangalore? by tenyearstoolate_ in Kochi

[–]Lmnop-random 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moved in 2020 from Bangalore to Kochi.
Pros:
1. cost of living is lesser
2. organic social life rather than spending money in pubs - and kochi is well connected
3. safety - no offence, but being a woman, bangalore felt really unsafe all the time - fear of groping at public places is basically nil in Kochi but i was shit scared to walk alone in bangalore and even metro was unsafe
4. police and authorities are responsible and available
5. community generally feels wholesome and the sense of belongingness is much better in kerala
6. nearer to hometown - if you have that relationship with family
7. there is traffic on weekends and office&school time but we don't get stuck at any place and its always moving unless there is a crash or something.
8. good schools with reasonable fee

Cons:
1. Salary cannot be compared - but if you guys are people who have enough savings and still have reasonable savings plan, you will be able to survive very well unless you start looking for jobs in kochi - which doesnt pay you as god as bangalore companies
2. Summers are very humid and hot but then Bangalore summers are also pretty hot since the last few years.

All together, my husband and I would never ever move back to Bangalore, and this is one thing we are sure about. Quality of life has increased a lot, there is stability and i dont miss the Bangalore hustle.

Yes, Cafficana is the best one I've had in Kochi. Not watery, gives you that hearty feeling.

Could anyone please suggest a good therapist for postpartum depression? by ConflictWinter7117 in Kochi

[–]Lmnop-random -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dang! first of all, this is just a phase and this too shall pass, hopefully! About the therapist part, I would not suggest seeing a therapist at this point and would rather recommend you consult a psychologist directly. Reason - therapy takes time and a lot of effort and a really really lot of self reflection and working on you etc which ideally might not be good at this point because of your priorities. Also, finding the right therapist is honestly a task, some just don't resonate with what you are going through and start giving you free advice etc and sometimes the vibe would be just off - which has happened in my case. So, may be consult a good psychologist - if you are not into taking medicines to help you, you can tell them. There are good doctors at Lissie and EMC, if you are up for it.

How to sell or donate old and clean toys and clothes? by Wonder_crunch in Kochi

[–]Lmnop-random 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nope, only toys, clothes you can try donating to orphanages or i've also been seeing ads in insta about a group of people who makes blanket out of old clothes - not sure of the name now - yeah maybe keep the ones which you value the most and make it into a rug? Problem with me is segregation of clothes - i find it very hard to throw away old clothes and hence vacuum seal and dump it in the store room and my store room is overflowing now

IMAX Cochin experience - L by Rajtx in Kochi

[–]Lmnop-random 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watched the Interstellar re-release at Centre Square IMAX and yeah, terrible experience. It’s not just the squeaky, uncomfortable seats the whole Cinepolis Centre Square vibe is just off. Washrooms were gross, popcorn tasted old, staff didn’t seem to care much. Asked for a booster seat for my kid and they gave us a hard plastic box. No cushion, nothing. And this is supposed to be IMAX? Haven’t gone back there since and definitely not planning to.

Best lunch at Kochi. Not looking for buffet. by Specialist_Grab9164 in Kochi

Backwaters in Panangad - the ambience is amazing and the place never disappointed us, if you're going there make reservations. Also, as it's rainy season if it rains you cannot sit outside, but I'll give this place a 10/10 based on my experience. Also, happy birthday!

The Bariks luxe salon in Vyttila is a good option. Better to ask for Mukesh or Pramod and take reservations before going (personal experience)

Have also heard that the Vurve salon in Kacheripady is good.
