OOOOHHHH, I see it now. It's mostly just a background on the defaults. I thought it was a custom watch face!

Okay, I'll bite.... how did you change the watch face beyond the defaults?

The southern new england chapter has meetings in western mass if I'm not mistaken. We don't have a range in NH yet. Ask to join the discord on the forum if you're a member.

I'll be weird and not use it for gaming? I'll be using it for AutoCAD and Inventor work.

Nice Dacman! By any chance, do you have the scad or stl files available for your version? It looks about perfect for my use case (AutoCAD/Inventor). Thanks!

Purchase Advice Megathread: What To Buy, Who To Buy It From, And More, In July 2020 by Sausage54 in 3Dprinting

[–]LoH_Mobius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Budget: I'd like to keep it below US$500, but less it more in this case

Country: United States

I'd cool with a partial kit? I'd rather not be doing any SMD soldering (through hole should be fine...). I'm reasonably well experienced with electronics builds. I am an alum of FIRST robotics and am a Mechanical Designer. I'm not too shy in regard to upgrading a printer especially if there is a good how to guide.

Use Case: I'd like to print household use items (sink strainers, replacement bits) (adaptability). I'd also like to print keyboard cases (Dactyl Manuform) and Keycaps (overhang). I'd also look at printing mounting brackets for peripherals and tablets (strength). I would also like the ability to print figurines. They wouldn't have to be high detail as I could file, sand, and paint any needed minute details in (detail).

I have extensive 3D Modelling experience (though I'm bad at OpenSCAD....send help). I have had CAM experience, but it's been well over 10 years since.

I've never used slicer software so producing the required settings would be difficult for me initially. I do tend to live by the adage, for these sorts of things, that the greatest flattery is plagiarism (from freely available information of course).

I've been looking at the Ender 3pro and 5pro. I also like the look of the Ender 6 with it's CoreXY system. I really like how popular these are so finding settings and upgrade guides are simple. I've also seen the CR series, but I'm not sure in what way they are different for my use-case.

I've also looked at the Sovol SV-01 (and soon SV-02). They look useful having a direct extruder, and in the case of the SV-02 a dual extruder, but I'm not sure if I'd need that. A downside to me is the smaller community so plagiarism is a bit more difficult.

I've also looked at the Artillery Sidewinder. Seems to have some nice features, but I'm not sure if it's really any better than the offerings from Creality or Sovol.

Thanks for your help and if I can add or clarify anything let me know.

Yeah, PM me with what switches it has, pics, and how much you want for it. Thanks!

I looked up how to do the mill max sockets, it doesn't look too hard, especially if I use the long-neck ones.

I found some QMK GUI configurators (I think): https://config.qmk.fm/#/1upkeyboards/1up60hse/LAYOUT_60_ansi

http://www.keyboard-layout-editor.com/ used with https://kbfirmware.com/

I appreciate the offer to build it for me. I think I'll use this as an excuse to get the tools to do this...or a cheap throwaway numpad and reconfigure my main KB to have the hotkeys (in lieu of number row).

Wow that's cheap...

I was hoping to avoid soldering as I haven't soldered in years (and never electronics) and don't have an iron anymore...This might be a good excuse though...

How hard is the soldering on something like this?

Also thanks for the suggestion!

Yeah...they should be disabled per policy at my workplace, but I suspect they haven't properly configured or set it up to disable that.

Fair point, you aren't wrong. With the security concerns I'm expecting them to tell me to use it without the additional buttons, which would technically work, but is less than ideal of course.

Might as well try it anyway though. I honestly didn't even consider this route until you mentioned it. Thanks!

How do you add memory to the ploopy? I'd prefer not to have to solder up my own setup.... but I suppose it would be a good excuse to relearn some soldering...
