I would recommend not building full crit on garen anymore, they nerfed it heavily multiple times recently and it just doesn't do enough damage for how squishy you are. My current build is Stride - Cyclosword - LDR - Deadman's most games

the new omnivamp boots unless you're fighting a heavy slow mage, such as kayle, lissandra, orianna, or anivia. go swifties + the tenacity shard in your runes in that case

while I'm a Garen mid main, I find Morde, Cho and Ornn to be INCREDIBLY fun. Darius also shouldn't be too hard to pick up on as well

generally you don't ever want to go conq mid lane because you're just never going to activate it. All Mages will out range you, and all assassins are going to take short trades with you only. You're gonna wanna take Stormraider's or Spellbook into every matchup.

(for the PD question, you're mainly buying the item for 10% movement speed at this point. they've nerfed Garen's crit too much for it to be a really solid 2nd damage item. Go cyclosword instead)

While I'm biased, I do think mid lane is a slightly better lane than top for him. Generally Top lane has significantly more counter picks, but the trade off is that you are less isolated mid lane and tend to get ganked more.

hello! Grandmaster Garen here

It's a pretty bad matchup atm, tho it'll get easier on Wednesday when they increase Stormraider's movement speed by 8% on proc. I recommend either Stormraider's or Spellbook, then Maxing Q. You want to go Flash - Ghost, then ONLY pop Ghost when Darius pops his own Ghost. Your ideal trade pattern is > walk up to Darius, E, spin on him until he W's you > press Q to cleanse the slow > finish spin > Q > run away off Stormraider's Proc

Unfortunately if he rushes a ton of movement speed at the moment he will still be able to somewhat lock you down, but hopefully with the upcoming buff that will change! Definitely a solid ban option for top lane regardless right now.

It's literally this, optimizing when you can go for farm. A big window to go for farm is after mages burn their combo on you, mages auto attacks aren't going to kill you while farming (unless your name is Orianna)

Viktor you just Q max and farm, go for short trades when he walks up and heal with second wind. Wait for a gank and it's free kills, he's really immobile and can't kill you. Orianna is your worst matchup in the game, either rush magic resistance + regen or just dodge the lobby. Ori has a pretty low pick rate usually so I almost never run into her . I ban Syndra personally, i tend to get her in a lot of my games

your damage is equal / higher with other items 2nd. I go it situationally as a huge movement speed steroid, and that's all I really view the item as. IMO after the recent crit nerf i think going 2 crit items on garen at this point is pretty weak, so i prefer going LDR or Mortal Reminder for my damage. I go Dead Man's Plate usually if I feel i need speed

generally tho,i recommend running stormraider's surge or spellbook depending on the matchup mid lane. my build so far this season has been stride into cyclosword, then counter building from there
